Cumberland Resort & Spa

We had such a beautiful stay at Cumberland Resort and Spa. Tima and her team are super accommodating. Helped us book multiple tours before we even flew over. Some first morning breakfast was supplied which was super helpful before the Island Orientation tour. 11 people were in our group and we all had an incredible time. Close enough to town that you could walk if you wanted but the cars are helpful to get elsewhere! Thank you Tima!

Our stay of 9 days was great. Cumberland is well located along from the main part of town but not too close to be noisy. The suite we had was fine, with lots of additional extras included. We didn’t use the oven but the cooktop was fine. The fridge is equipped with some goodies to start you off, there’s a dishwasher too. Our suite had a private outdoor area. Being at this location there are no water views. Tema the Manager is so helpful and obliging and we had massages with Meme on day 2 which were sensational. All the staff were friendly and up for a quick chat. We had use of a car for several days while here and that also was fuss free. The suite was clean, bed comfortable, plenty of hot water for good showers. Cumberland is not The Ritz but it’s pretty good! Being August we didn’t use the spa or other facilities. We borrowed a picnic basket, and Tema also provided a thermos and picnic blanket. Service is excellent.

As with the other reviews, don't believe the pictures. While the hosts were lovely and very helpful, the place is tired and nothing like the photos. The pool was closed, the rooms basic and the facilities way overdue for an upgrade. Likewise the hire car! It's a great location but the accommodation is nothing like what we were sold in the ads.

On arrival we were absolutely disappointed, definitely not what the website photos indicated . The exterior is very rundown, we were offered a tea/coffee as a 'welcome drink', 'breakfast included' for a week for 3 adults was a loaf of bread, 3 x small long life milk, 3 x small juices, a basket of butter and assorted jams. The pool area was uninviting. The staff were friendly and very helpful and accommodating. The rooms were clean and adequately stocked.

We stayed here recently for our honeymoon and were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived and were shown around our villa, up until the moment we left, we were treated like family. On arrival, we received a complimentary breakfast pack (eggs, bread, butter, milk and juice along with an assortment of condiments) - oh, and a bottle of sparkling wine! The accommodation was very comfortable; two king size rooms, an en-suite with massive shower off one of the rooms and a shower over spa tub in another. The lounge was equipped with dvd player (and hundreds of dvds to borrow from the office) and with free WIFI internet (which can be patchy with iphones but we got around that problem). Laundry was $5 per load; $5 for washing and $5 for clothes drier (there was no need for the drier as the weather was perfect and clothes could be hung on the line provided in the cabin). The resort provided a rental car complimentary (with only the insurance to be paid daily) which was very useful to explore the island. There was a heated spa on-site which was lovely to take a dip in. There were three little dogs on site who belonged to the owner; the dogs were so friendly. I can't thank Gail and Rael enough for our wonderful stay. We saw Gail and Rael most days on their walk past our cabin and were always with a smile on their face.

I have been to Norfolk 6 times now and the Cunberland resort is the best place I have stayed. The nice touch was the brekky pack, including eggs, butter, jams, juice and a loaf of bread waiting in case you didn't feel like shopping on arrival. Rail was the perfect host and nothing was too much trouble for him. The staff were extremely friendly and would always greet you. The rooms were very clean and every thing you could need was supplied. A welcome surprise was the dishwasher. The private outdoor area was large and you even have your own BBQ. Coffee making facilities are supplied and a mobile phone for use on the island was a welcome surprise. I am going back and Cumberland will be my stay from now on.

we were looking forward to a long weekend stay in Norfolk island , our flights were cancelled because of a cyclone dovi , we were flying in on a Friday morning and leaving Norfolk on Tuesday , The Friday flight was cancelled and no flights from Sydney on Saturday and the Sunday flight was booked out . we called the hotel and told them the problem . they said no refund call your insurance company, they were happy to keep my $1049.00 . we want to see Norfolk island but this has change our feeling towards the place ,

The resort is inviting, comfortable + clean and the feeling of welcome is ever present. The absolute "icing on the cake" is Tima, the resort manager, who went above and beyond to ensure that your stay was wonderful.

We were very disappointed in this accommodation as it is nothing like it promotes itself as. The good points: Tima was great and helpful host. Bed and linen comfortable. Breakfast starter pack was thoughtful. The whole "resort" needs maintenance. There are no spa facilities and haven't been for several years I believe, yet it is still advertised as available. An updated website would have been useful so not to raise expectations. The heated pool is in a delipidated courtyard and unappealing surrounds. It is a requirement that the user remove and replace the pool cover which we found to be a 2 person job. None of public areas were appealing and a few garden beds were interspersed with what is essential a big carpork. I was most disappointed with the fact that there was no view from back door, front door or window only fences and driveways. On an island with such beautiful vistas we would have booked elsewhere if we had known the reality. The ancient gas heater did not work. No fresh linen change but offered clean towels mid stay.
