We were very disappointed in this hotel - primarily because someone stole my jewelry while I was staying there. It happened on the last day, and I assume it was one of the maids or other staff members who had access to my room. They took three necklaces and five earrings from my travel jewelry case, which was all packed up because we were about to check out. The hotel management response was not helpful or particularly apologetic. I have traveled in cities around the world and this is the first time I have experienced a theft in my hotel room. It definitely left a bad impression. While the rooms are cute, I did not care much for the neighborhood surrounding the hotel. The street was dingy and dirty, located several blocks from the main action in Palermo Soho. The breakfast is decent, but the hotel pool is extremely tiny, as is the gym. There is generally just one person at the front desk, and it is difficult to get a lot of personalized assistance with things like restaurant recommendations and transportation advice. If I visit Buenos Aires again, I would choose instead to stay in one of the larger luxury hotels located in either Recoleta or Puerto Madera. I do not recommend the 1828 Smart Hotel.
