I don't normally write reviews but I think this hotel has a really unfair deal in the reviews that I've seen. Yes, it's not perfect, and yes, it's a bit dated, but if you're the kind of person who gets upset by a bit of chipped paint I'd recommend paying more for somewhere else. If, however, you're not too fussed and want somewhere friendly, well-located and good value then I'd go for it. PROS - Breakfast is great! Yes, it's a bit weird they serve fanta instead of orange juice and it's not the best I've ever had, but it's a good selection with a decent coffee machine. If you don't like it, you don't have to eat it, but I thought it was really nice. - Hotel location is fantastic, you're super close to everything with just a short hop on the tram or a 15-20 min walk. - Staff are *really lovely* although I found a little bit of Czech is really helpful. Every interaction I had was thoroughly pleasant. - Price! I paid around 33EUR/night for a single room with private bathroom (albeit down the hall) for three nights in August - and with breakfast included. - Size of the room was more than adequate. CONS - The mattresses are pretty thin, but it's not like sleeping on a rock and after the first night I didn't really notice it, in fact it was probably good for my back. If you really can't stand a sub-par mattress, stay somewhere else. - Quite a bit of traffic noise during the morning if you wanted a lie in. - The Wi-Fi is patchy but in their defence it's a large building and they have installed multiple routers to try and fix it. I'm sure they'll get it right eventually but if you are working from there you be prepared to hotspot. - No desk in the room, sadly - would have been useful for work. MYTHS (things I saw on reviews that just weren't true in my experience) - The décor is, admittedly, a little dated, but here's a news flash folks - you don't have to live there. It's a little weird but I found it quite fun. - The hotel is not infested with pests. I think I saw one ant on my windowsill. - They don't serve mouldy bread at breakfast. - The staff are helpful and really nice, although you may have to be a little creative if you speak no Czech at all. Basically, it was grand. I'd stay there again and would recommend it to people for the price that I paid because the cost:quality ratio was excellent in my book. However, if you're going to get upset about not having the best mattress, chipped paint or looking at some slightly weird decor for one weekend I'd recommend going to a chain hotel and paying more for it. Honestly, the only thing is the mattresses - I feel a lot of the bad reviews could be solved by fixing that.
