Welcome sanctuary after a warm day visiting Bristol. Very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Room was clean, spacious and had many amenities. The bathroom was also well thought out with a very unusual shower. Felt able to kick back, relax straight away. All the staff were very professional, helpful and courteous.  Wished I’d tried the restaurant, as the breakfast was very good.

The hotel is a very old building, somewhat like a B&B, with very old facilities. Old elevators and old room facilities. The rooms are larger, the beds are softer, and they are cleaner! Although the window is small, the bathroom is relatively large with a separate bathtub, shampoo and shower gel! There is a bar downstairs in the hotel. The lady at the front desk was very polite and friendly. Please note that the soundproofing in the hotel rooms is very poor. You can hear all the activities in the next room clearly. The noise in the bar at night is also very bad. Affect rest

This trip was sensational, it was a graduation gift and wow I am so glad it was well worth the money, the service and staff were fantastic and simply could not do enough for you were so incredibly helpful, I found my room (Leroy Duval) on the warm side and they were really helpful in sorting this for me and really did not make me feel I was bothering them. I felt the room was a little dark for me and some additional lighting would be good, built in unit lights in the wardrobe would really elevate the room. However with the doors open lots of natural light came in so it wasn't problematic, overall a great trip and wonderful experience!!

We had a wonderful two night stay here whilst attending our daughter’s graduation ceremony at the Bristol Beacon. Everything at this hotel is conducive to a comfortable, enjoyable and memorable experience. Our rooms were spacious and extremely well equipped - we particularly loved the bathrooms with their high quality toiletries and fabulous rain showers. The food was excellent - we loved the choice at breakfast - and the evening meal we had there on one night was also of a high quality. A particular mention must go to the staff for their warmth of welcome and excellent service, with a special ‘shout out’ to Jake, our evening waiter, and Roberto, our breakfast waiter who was incredibly helpful. (Two of our group follow a GF diet and the way the hotel catered for this was exemplary.) I very highly recommend this place.

A good check in with positive staff who make you feel welcomed. However, then very disappointed by service in the bar on first night after a 15 minute wait. Concerned what rest of stay will be like. Let’s hope things improve and our next review is more positive.

The hotel is rather cold and has little atmosphere. The room we were given was very spacious and overlooked the front of the hotel, but was nowhere near the scaffolding. There was very noisy work going on but it finished at 4 pm. The bathroom was very disappointing. It was very badly laid out with the towels and towel rail across the other side of the room from the one wash basin. There was a tiny shelf to put our two wash bags on. The bathroom was cold and rather uninviting. The bed was very comfortable but the lighting in the room was very poor. It was dark and rather dismal with no central lights and the lights around the room only dimly lit the room. Overall the hotel and in particular the corridors on the bedroom floors look dusty and not cleaned very well. When we arrived I spotted dirty cups, saucers, plates and glasses piled up by the lift on our floor and 2 hours’ later they were still there. To be fair as soon as I reported this, one of the managers came and cleared them away. On the plus side the staff were extremely helpful, professional and charming. And the food in the restaurant was first class. The menu was good and varied and the dining room had atmosphere with nicely laid tables and white linen. We were surprised that 2 of the Chef’s Specials were not available - the sole meunière and the fillet steak. Surely there was no shortage of either? It was shame that there only 7 diners in total. Overall we thought the dinner was rather pricey for what we eat. We used to stay here in the late 1990s and we loved it. I’m not sure we would stay here again if we returned to Bristol. But a big thank you to all the staff who made our one night stay as enjoyable as they could.

This is one of the best hotels we’ve been to, up there with The Dorchester in London at a fraction of the price. With a city centre location, the entrance via a quaint courtyard. Once into reception, the welcome lovely. The rooms are immaculate and named after wines rather than numbered. The bathrooms are huge, the rooms elegantly lit, I notice some complaints on Tripadvisor about this, I felt it added to the charm of the hotel, perhaps Holiday Inn would suit these complainants better? We didn’t have the opportunity to eat, but the food looked (and smelled) lovely. The drinks are reasonably priced with a good selection. The staff are very friendly and efficient, even though I walked in wearing shorts and a tee shirt, I still felt valued. I honestly can’t remember going to such a beautiful little hotel with such good value for money! We are booking again soon, it’s a credit to the city.
