All good. However couple next door were up 6.30. We could hear voices which woke us. (Thought the telly was on). Maybe a polite notice saying please be aware voices travel through done walks. Fortunately we did have an early start ourselves. Just a bit earlier

Room was nice. It was over the kitchen which kept us awake playing really loud music. The drain outside the kitchen was overflowing throughout our visit making the path unpleasant to use. We came back from eating across the road and the manageress said the bar was closed and that was before 10pm on a Friday evening. I looked shocked and said ‘ even for residents?’ She said we could order a glass of wine. We had booked for breakfast. When we came down in the morning all of the tables were set for lunch with wine glasses on. We nearly went back to our room thinking we had made a mistake as there was clearly no tables set for breakfast. We found the manager and she cleared the table of all of the wine glasses and extra cutlery. Our soap dispenser in our room broke so I reported it at the bar in the morning when we went out for the day. On our return it was still broken. We used to love the Bear and Swan but now it does not feel like it is run by professionals.

We spent 2 nights B&B with evening meal in first weekend of July. The room was noisy at the front of the pub as we had to sleep with windows open due to the heat, so if thats an issue ask for rooms at the back. All the staff are very nice and friendly and we returned here following an overnight stay earlier in the year, when we were impressed by the breakfast in contrast to other local inns. However the food was terrible on in the evening and the breakfast was miserable...milk laden overly tight and dry scrambled eggs with cold smoked salmon (just out the fridge) laid on to tasteless dry toast. The evening meal included a fish (not distinguishable) with cubes of celeriac swimming in what seemed to be a miso sauce (think - cat food)......sorry guys, we wont be returning....you need to find another chef pronto.

Mixed Experience – Helpful Staff but Several Drawbacks The staff were excellent—friendly and as helpful as they could be. Dining was a highlight, with good quality food at both breakfast and dinner. However, there were several drawbacks. Parking on Friday night was a major issue. The small public car park behind the pub was full, and on-street parking was extremely limited. Given the number of nearby pubs, bars, and restaurants, this is likely a recurring problem—not a one-off. The website’s claim of “plentiful parking” is misleading. The rooms are located at the back of the pub, above the kitchen, and accessed via an outdoor staircase that’s dirty, smelly, and appears to be used for other purposes—definitely not a great first impression. While the hallway to the rooms was better, and the room itself was clean, ours had only small skylights, making it feel quite claustrophobic. Ventilation was poor, and the room became unbearably hot—especially when we had to close the skylights due to loud music from a neighboring pub. Fortunately, staff provided a fan, which helped. In summary, this spot is acceptable for a basic overnight stay, but I’d recommend avoiding weekends if you’re driving, due to the parking situation and potential noise.

We stayed here the night before our holiday and it was everything we wanted and more. We ate in the restaurant too and that was lush. It was nice to see a nice cosy pub busy on a Friday night. Even have a really nice beer garden that I can imagine gets very busy in the summer. Would definitely recommend and I’d stay here again. The only thing I would say is the shutters as your blinds in the bedroom when on the main road side you can still see the car lights shine through but apart from that everything was perfect

Fantastic property, really comfy bed and spacious room. Really enjoyed our stay. Only thing that could be improved was that the fan was covered in dust. Coming out of winter this is understandable

Here for 2 nights before flying to tenerife for holiday. We have stayed here before, and always been happy with our room, food in restaurant and the service from the staff, which is very professional but friendly too. The room we are in tonight and tomorrow is the best yet, really comfy and roomy, couldn't recommend this place enough!!
