Hotels with Breakfast in Taupo

Poor experience at this hotel. First room service argued they had cleaned the room when they had clearly not and it took photographic evidence for staff to believe us. Also discovered that their check in staff charged the full price room as a deposit ($304) but only mentioned charging $70 at check in; this is an issue as the room was prepaid. The room itself was comfortable and the pool and gym good. But poor and incompetent treatment by staff would put me off choosing to stay here again.

Beautiful rooms overlooking the lake. Plenty of space and large balcony to sit and enjoy the view. Location was excellent just far enough out of town to be quiet but close enough to walk in along a walkway. Staff were extremely friendly. Room was clean with lovely quality bedding Dinner in the on site restaurant was really good and with a great view of the lake. Breakfast was fairly basic but sufficient and of a good quality. We would definitely stay again when in this area highly recommended

Room is clean, tidy and spacious. Nice to have a balcony but it is by the side of road. A private kitchen or kitchenette is not included but there is a large common kitchen in the 2/F. Like most hotels or motels there, there is nobody in the reception counter from 8:40 pm to 10 am next day. Good to have free undercover on-site parking.

We rang to book direct as we were coming back from a days skiing with a view to stop in Taupo. The own was incredible and gave us a good price for one night for 3 adults and 3 children. Upon checking in late at around 6 pm the owner offered to dry all our incredibly wet clothing from skiing. He did this with a lovely smile. We were so appreciative. The rooms were lovely and suited us well.

We spent three nights at this very comfortable hotel in Taupo in early June. We were visiting our daughter who lives in the town but didn’t have enough room for us to stay. I was after a hotel with a view of the beautiful lake, but still within walking distance to town as we didn’t have a car. Suncourt Hotel fitted the brief perfectly. We booked a Premier Deluxe Lakeview Studio room. The room that we were allotted was on the top floor. There was no lift, so you needed to climb the outdoor steps with luggage. Our room was very large, with a king size bed, a desk, two comfortable chairs and a coffee table. The bathroom was huge with a walk-in shower and a free-standing bath. There was also a very large balcony with a stunning view of the lake and a further two chairs and a small table. The reception staff were very helpful not only with our original reservation, but also when we needed to add a night and with any questions that we had. The only downside to me was that their restaurant was not open on the evening that we checked in, which was Sunday, and also not for breakfast on the Monday morning. We did know this in advance though, and as the town was easily walkable it wasn’t a problem. We had two breakfasts in the restaurant, and they were excellent. As we had other dinner plans, we didn’t have dinner in the restaurant, but our daughter and her partner have eaten there and loved it. If you are looking for a very large hotel room with a view, then Suncourt is for you. I believe they have much larger apartment style rooms which would be more suitable for families, although we didn’t get to see any of these.

WOW!!! what a great place from the minute we got there we were greeted with great service especially the lady at reception she was so lovely and took the time with the kids was a great first impression, when we arrived to the apartment we were amazed at the lovely house with a view is was so nice and clean we had a massive kitchen and lounge which was great as we use that area the most and don’t get me started on the pool area it was so nice we had so much fun in there and it was the perfect temperature not to hot not to cold me and my family had such an amazing time and will definitely be staying again, from a teens point of view this is one of the best places to stay with the most amazing managers.

The room is large, the location is great, and parking is free. Just outside the hotel is Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest freshwater lake. The hotel facilities are very new, the beds are big, and the Wi-Fi is very good. The hotel is very close to the city.

Location is great. The hotel its self is getting tired. The bathroom needs updating. Plastic shower cubicle which is small. Paint around toilet flaking off. Light above kitchen not working. That area is very dark. TV quite small, bed ok. View is great - balcony quite small but nice to sit and admire the lake. Air con remote didn’t work, fuse blown - we fixed that to get power on one side of unit to sockets. Ok stay, nice people just needs some modernising especially for the price.

We had Rm 303, 3rd floor. We loved the fabulous view of Lake Taupo. We liked the proximity to eateries. Beds were comfy, so were pillows and sheets. Staff we saw were frirndly too. But, this motel had its heyday in the 1980s and is in need of a full refurb. It shows. Lift was noisy (outside our room). Traffic noise noticeable, motel is on a very busy road so couldnt leave window open. To access the bedroom one had to go through the bathroom (toilet not separate). Or, if you were in the 2nd bedroom, you were trapped in there until the person finished in the bathroom. Light switch for bathroom in the kitchen. No air con/heat pump. Only portable fans or oil fin heaters. Everything tired, although clean. Shower pressure not strong and you have to step up into it, and step down to get out of it. Could be an issue for elderly or people with mobility issues. We thought there are newer motels that are better value in Taupo to stay at.

First the pros: The room is spacious, Parking was available. The location is quiet and close to town centre. Shampoo and conditioner were good quality now the cons: The room was not clean. There were water and other marks on the glass enclosure to the shower and on the walls around the shower. I washed the tub before using it since there was some sort of grime on it. There was a rust mark on the toilet. The floor in the bathroom was not clean. I washed the dish and coffee cup and cutlery that I used because they were not clean. The microwave is v old. It is one of those that you rotate the dial and have to use the timer on your phone and then manually turn off. The worst part of the stay, however, was the bed. The mattress was shot. It was lumpy...I could not find a place to sleep that did not dent and that I did not feel springs. When I sent a message the next morning the manager came up and referred to a mattress topper but there was none. It might have made a difference, but a mattress topper would not be sufficient to make this mattress comfortable. It needs to be replaced. I envy the people who commented positively on their stay at this hotel. Clearly, they did not stay in room 8.
