Hotels with Breakfast in Sandakan

The breakfast buffet options were really limited. Eg, theres only 1 type of chicken and they put very little amount each batch. Had to wait another batch once its finish. Its not worth paying rm25-30 per head for the breakfast. I suggest you go by foot to the nearby places or restaurant for better food options.  I pick this place mainly for its swimming pool, but after seeing the water up close, its SO DIRTY! You can see a lot of phlegm, saliva, dust, hairs, some trash inside the water with algae. THERE WERE LOTS OF HAIRS during my visit. I felt disgusted by the water pool, pls save ur kids from going into the disease-ridden pool. The hotel needs to upgrade their pool- water filter system. Please. I tried the full body massage service, cost me about RM78, it was okay-ish. Not much to compliment or complaint, it was very average. And they dont use proper massage bed, they use thin mattress placed on the floor. So you cannot put ur face down, u need to put ur face sideways, which made my neck uncomfortable the whole time.  Otherwise room was okay, they need to clean under the bed, as i notice theres A LOT OF trash under the bedframe. The towel seems to be very old, they need to replace it. Looks very worn out.  During my stay, the water pipe had rust in it. It was very rusty for the whole 1 hour, i had to flush it out before the water become usable. Mind you. Theres a lot of positive things about the place too, but a positive experience should be a given, that a basic standards, so i only point out the things that may ward you off from coming to this place if you're like me.  Im travelling with kids, so I expect more quality service. If im travelling alone, i really don't care with the downsides of this place.

Location is great if you're getting a flight. The room is nice enough and includes toothpaste, shower gel and shampoo (which has been suggested aren't by other guests). Unfortunately they're doing renovations at the moment so there's a bit of noise and the lobby is a bit confusing. Once it's sorted I'm sure it'll be great.

Very clean and lovely hotel with a very nice outdoor pool. I stayed there just for one night. Breakfast was very delicious and variant. Close to the city center with multiple local restaurants.

I had to change room twice. The first room have an air conditioning problem. The second room have problem with the door lock. Nice seaview from my room.

What I liked a lot: Well situated to visit main attractions in Sepilok: Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre/Sunbear centre/Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC), free shuttle bus to the main attractions (09h-14h-16) which was really great. Also offer tours at reasonable prices e.g. Mangroves & Firefly Cruise (recommended). Free water dispenser. To note: rooms are very basic (there is airco), we had some ants in the room, bathroom is outside. Breakfast was limited and minimal. When we were there internet was not functional, luckily we had taken local simcard before with unlimited data so for us, this was not a big issue. Before coming to the hotel, I had sent a mail to have info about tours they offered, but never received a reply therefore I had booked tours with an agency which in the end was more expensive then when I would have it booked with Paganakan Dii Tropical Retreat. Possible to book tours on the spot (no need to reserve before coming) but I did not know this in advance.

Hotel Labuk in Sandakan offers a comfortable and pleasant stay with its modern amenities and friendly staff. The rooms are well-maintained, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploration. The hotel's location is convenient, close to local attractions and dining options. While the facilities are generally good, the decor a bit dated. Overall, Hotel Labuk provides good value for money.

The hostel is a classic backpacker hostel, rooms are absolutely OK for the price (tip: book rooms with a sea view, as better rooms). Bathroom simple but clean. Roof terrace and common areas could be a bit more inviting. The location in the city center is very central (although the city center is not really nice). Breakfast basic but appropriate for the price.

Room clean, this hotel is recommend to those who self drive as surrounding no restaurants. Free parking. Good for businesses trip.
