The room is worth the price. The facilities are complete: hair dryer, iron, TV, hot water, soft bed. The accommodation is near restaurants and convenience stores. It is easy to travel. However, the disadvantage is that the way up and down the elevator is very complicated, like a maze. Overall, everything is okay.

I was surprised at how clean and tidy my hotel room was, like a brand new hotel that opened not long ago. Not to mention the cleanliness and tidiness of the entire hotel. The staff there, both the front desk attendants and the cleaners, were very polite and smiled when talking to customers. Keep up the good work! Hopefully it will be as good as I experienced when I come back again!

Surprised by how clean it was despite being an old hotel in the area. I am overall satisfied with the hotel and my room, especially the cleanliness of the toilet and tub area. If I have to be really fussy and pin point a thing I did not like, it would be that the blanket is slightly thinner than I would normally prefer a hotel blanket to me. However, this is just my very fussy side speaking. Overall, I would give this hotel a 4.9 out of 5.
I had booked a room with breakfast during my two days there for a workshop. Both days are somewhat the same, food was decent. The workshop provided lunch which led me to again dining in the lunch buffet section, overall it was pleasant. I like it that the hotel provided a variety of Penang food over the two days. My fav was the rojak which I took a photo here haha! Hub enjoyed the pool and hot & cold pool (sadly the sauna was under maintenance).
Before I checked out, I also happened to be part of the Penang heritage launch ceremony. So, I got to see some of the really beautiful art work and nyonya clothing items on sale at the pop up stalls at the lobby too. The hotel also was serving nutmeg juice and Penang famous snack čąć˛éĽź.
I must mention too, that I got a sea view room which allowed me to see the extension project by MBPP. There was a very happening and lovely park opposite the hotel just minutes walk away. I couldnât help to bring myself over and was really happy to experience the joy of the families enjoying the facilities there. Huge slide, lots of climbing equipment and a very decent skatepark! Running track was very nice too! You must check it out if youâre in Penang!
It was overall a pleasant stay in all.

Not quite suitable for family with two child since the room is just appropriate for couples, quite small, bed sheets linen etc is quite yellowish, good location close to gurney mall, you can have a relaxing time at the park in front of the hotel, also most people say they didn't provide amenities, actually you can ask for that before check-in, I just figured it out when checkout.

It was a pleasant stay & worth the price. We stayed 2 nights on weekdays. Booked studio room, got the 5th floor - you can see both views mountain & part of the sea (blocked by buildings).
Towels, toothbrushes, toothpastes, bath gels & shampoos are included. Staffs are great (especially the man whoâs at the front desk)
The breakfast is also pleasant. Breakfasts are fixed based on days, but thereâll be 2 main dish, 1 type of dessert/kuih, 1 type of fruit, coffee & tea.
Thereâs 8 free parkings for customers too! Just beside the hotel
The studio is not wheelchair friendly though, if you plan on bringing anyone on wheelchair dependent bcs of the wall in the middle of the room (as per photo). You can always call the hotel to ask anything..

Had always been contemplating whether or not to try G Hotel Kelawai. Bit the bullet and here's my review;
Room is spacious and comfortable, bed is top notch. Free minibar (replenished daily) is a plus. Swimming pool is nice although a bit shallow, and Gravity is a nice place to chill at night with view overlooking the island and Bukit Bendera.
Is it worth the money? Yes. Location? Perfect. It'd be hard to find another hotel in Penang that checks all my boxes, and this could be it.

Great
GGuest UserFirst time staying at the Grand Ol Dame of Penang, celebrating its 140th anniversary. Stayed for 2 nights and the experience was great. Room was spacious and comfortable, facing the sea and you wake up to the sounds of crashing waves. Service was excellent. Breakfast was great, with cook-to-order char koay teow and roti canai, in addition to the standard eggs station. Hotel location was strategic, with plenty of food options a simple Grab ride away. The only thing lacking was the TV, coffee machine and fridge in the room, all of which could use an upgrade.
GGuest UserExcellent overall!First of all,the room is very spacious with sea view and there are two water taps. everything needed is provided!!
Secondly, the air conditioner is very good and there is nothing to complain for the bathroom which the water pressure is pretty good.
Thirdly, the facility is decent, the only thing that could be improved is the air conditioner of the gym room. The breakfast is good at last!! This is an excellent experience with reasonable price, will definitely come back again!!

Location is super near to a very big mall which is Gurney Plaza, just walk less than 2min after exit hotel lobby
Cleaniness are well maintained. Super friendly staff, feels welcome the moment u stepped in.
I took the executive package which comes with free flow drinks, food, and also simple dinner and free flow alcohol in the evening. However if you are planning for food trip around Penang you might want to opt out this.
Free parking, decent size swimming pool for children, great gym with lots of equipment but might be a bit cramp, great variety for breakfast buffet.
They share facilities with nearby G Hotel Kelawei like swimming pool, gym and lounge. Besides Kelawei has a pool party which is free to play. They have a buggy to bring you there too.
Cons
I got a room with bad working AC. Took some time to get it done.
I took the buffet dinner at 168 but not much choices and even though the theme is crab but the crab always gone the moment they refill and you need to wait min 10min till the next round. Would recommend to go outside for a better dinner.
GGuest UserThis hotel is pretty new, comfortable, clean, spacious and located in the heart of the city. The front officer, Sazzu is very hospitable and friendly. The housekeeping, a Nepal guy is friendly and hardworking to keep the room clean. Next to the hotel is one of the famous biscuits shop in Penang. However, the better biscuits is âHim Heangâ which is not far away from hotel too. Within walking distance you can get to many eateries, convenience shops and cafes. If you can walk, it's easy to walk around the city to enjoy Penang.
Else, it is very easy to take a Grab to tour the city with reasonable fare. It is an enjoyable stay for me and I will come back again.
GGuest UserLooking at the review of hotels in Malaysia, there seem to be tons of people giving negative reviews for almost every hotel so was pretty wary of booking this hotel and all the other ones I stayed at! However, I found that this was a decent hotel albeit with some minor problems.
To start with the good. The hotel is well constructed, by that I mean the rooms and walls are made of good material so that generally sound from other rooms or outside is not an issue. This is my main concern, because you must be able to sleep peacefully or live in your room without being disturbed by neighbours or the outside, that should be the primary goal of any hotel. The room size is also very large, although I found small things like the funny diagonal shaped desk not to be practical because it was too small to use comfortably. Also, you cannot connect your laptop to the TV with and HDMI because the TV is fixed to the wall.
I had some small issues with a blocked basin and the shower hose was broken, but these were resolved after a couple of visits. I needed to persuade maintenance man to change the hose, which I thought was strange as it was obviously broken. He called in housekeeping afterwards to clean up some of the water on the floor that came from the work. The cleaner used one of the body towels to wipe up the water. I said that he should at least use the floor towel and not the ones for the body. He said it was âJust waterâ. As someone who is prone to eczema, I have to be careful about detergents and what I put on my skin. If this is something that house cleaning do regularly, this would be a problem for me. (I did start getting some skin issues here, but cannot say for certain it was due to the hotel).
There was also some old stains on the bed sheets that I had to ask to be changed. Bed sheets like that need to be either bleached or thrown away. They may not pose any health risks but no one wants to sleep on visibly stained sheets. Also, the small sofa bench on at the foot of the bed was heavily stained and really needs to be re-furbished.
The breakfast was okay. I remember the dining area which is nice, but not much of the actual food. I just like eggs, toast, fruit and coffee.
The check-in is on the 20th floor, so you will probably only see the managers when you check-in and when you check-out. I had a nice Indian lady check me in. I saw one other man manager, portly Indian man, there when I tried to extend by one night, who I found to be less friendly.
I would stay here again, as the problems were minor. (I also stayed at the Citadines, which I absolutely do not recommend).
TTomi Qing RongHotel is quite dated and the facilites are pretty old, not exactly very clean either. Need to request for room make-up, otherwise they will take their time to do it (was out for 8 hours and when I got back at 4pm, it was still not done).
Accessible location with a bus terminal and a few malls nearby.
One complaint about the pool: the water was really dirty with clumps of hair in it and the water was so salty. There were also adults and children swimming/playing in the pool with their clothes on, but the staff didn't say anything at all.
SSui LingOur company organized a team trip to Penang and chose George Crest as our accommodationâand it turned out to be a great choice. The hotel provided a comfortable and stylish setting that worked well for both rest and informal team bonding.
Rooms were clean, modern, and well-equipped with everything we needed after long days of team activities and exploring the city. The ambiance of the hotel struck a nice balance between heritage charm and modern design, which everyone appreciated.
The staffâs customer service was professional and attentive throughout our stay. They made check-ins smooth, assisted with local recommendations, and ensured our groupâs needs were met efficiently. It was clear they were experienced in handling group stays, which made the entire trip run more smoothly.
The location was also a major plusâclose to George Townâs attractions and eateries, making it easy for the team to explore during free time.
Overall, George Crest was a comfortable and pleasant base for our company trip, We would like to especially compliment all the concierge and bellboy staff for their warm hospitality and prompt assistance throughout our stay. Their friendly demeanor and efficiency made a great impression on our entire trip
AAnonymous UserReally love how clean the hotel and the room is. Furnitures in the bed room and bathroom area is so well maintained and super clean as if newly open. The bed is comfy with good aircon temperature. The water and drainage system works perfectly. The breakfast is good and the staff during the breakfast is very keen to help do the waffle.
The location is also great. I can walk out and face cute cafes and bars across the street. Around the block is the area full of historical buildings. The hotel is walkable to popular street like Armenian street, promenade and center of George town.
The only comment is it would be very good to have small sofa in the room next to the bed. With the non standard room type with more usable space, itâs better to add something extra to the room.
But overall is very good stay!
CClarence HungThe room has a fake window with outside is a wall which cannot tell the room has âcity viewâ (see picture). The facility is old but clean. There is no table in the room which it is quite not convenience for me to browse on my computer. The layout of the room is not reasonable as the toilet door is hidden on the back of the room which is not convenient to use. The service is good enough as per this price range. The best for this hotel is it's location which is good for sightseeing. It is nearby the CAT bus stop #7 which is a free service to bring you to many different attractions in George Town.
AAprilcykLocation wise is great, food market every night just right at front of the junction. There's a braised soup noodle (Super Star Koay Teow) which is superb which I would highly recommend. All the stalls and shop usually closes at or before 11pm. Walking distance to the heritage site if you are willing to walk under the sun, otherwise a Grab would do. All grab drivers are so friendly!
Room is small. The bathroom has no wet and dry area, basically just a curtain to segregate the shower area. The aircon is blowing directly to one side of the bed, whoever sleeps on that side won't feel comfortable as the cool air keeps blowing. There's only one room card given and everything stops working after you remove the card, so every day coming back to the hotel after a day out would be quite hot and needs at least 30 mins to cool the whole room.
No toothbrush, no toothpaste, no slippers. Only 2-in-1 shampoo + shower gel is available. Entertainment wise, you can watch Netflix (if you have an account) and YouTube on the TV.
