We have just returned from Chilston Park Hotel for a Twixmas two day break and I really must agree with all the reviews that applaud the hotel staff. Nothing, nothing, was too much for them! We asked for a fridge in our room- we got it. We asked for wellies- we got them. We wanted extra food from the menu- no problem. Thank you Matthew and your team in the dining room …. dinner was super and beautifully presented. The platter of home made breads were divine! Oh, and the chocolate mousse cake was enough for four and heaven on a plate. Compliments to the chef as the dining for our two nights was really wonderful. I would definitely recommend staying for dinner and not bothering stepping out to discover anywhere else. Rooms were quirky and very spacious in the main house. We enjoyed an executive room with a four poster bed, huge bathroom and it was definitely worth paying a little extra. I will definitely recommend Handpicked Hotels to stay at although this hotel doesn’t have the spa or swimming pool that some of them have. However, we had a trip to Leeds Castle and enjoyed a couple of local walks ending up in cosy local pubs… very chillaxing over the Christmas break! Thank you all at Chilston Park Hotel , we had the perfect break!

Just returned home from a Christmas break at the Chilston Park Hotel. This is our 4th visit in the past year and our experience is always superb. The Reynolds's room is fantastic, located in the mews section of the hotel and ideally placed for those of us with dogs (which usually for a hotel are treated as special guests). We ate all our meals in the hotel and found the food to be fantastic and the service from Matt and his team exemplary. The reason we keep returning to this hotel is the staff. As always they couldn't do enough for us and it's the extra touches that make the difference. Be it the welcome message and sweets in the room on arrival, every request (no matter how obscure) being actioned straight away or just the fact that the staff are efficient and friendly and know how to make returning guests feel special. We must mention one fabulous staff member who went above and beyond during our break. Dan on the front desk was outstanding! He was polite, friendly , efficient with a (and I quote) " I can make that happen" attitude. Once again we enjoyed it so much we have already booked our next 2 day stay in February. Can't wait to come back. Highly recommend, thank you. Sean & Charlie Barber

A Ruined Christmas Experience This was meant to be a special Christmas getaway, but it turned into a major disappointment. While the hotel boasts a stunning location and beautiful rooms, the overall experience left us frustrated and disheartened. Staff and Service The staff appeared to be doing their best, but it was evident that the hotel was severely short-staffed. Service delays were a recurring issue, and the strain on the team was obvious. Unfortunately, what made the situation worse was the attitude of the general manager. When we raised concerns about the delays and poor quality of service, the general manager was dismissive, condescending, and showed little interest in resolving the issues. Instead of addressing our concerns with understanding or offering solutions, he brushed us off as though our complaints were an inconvenience to him. His arrogance and lack of professionalism set a poor example for the rest of the team and made an already stressful experience even more frustrating. It was clear that guest satisfaction was not a priority for him, which left a lasting negative impression. Facilities The public toilets were in an appalling state—dirty, poorly maintained, and unfit for a venue of this supposed standard. This lack of care and attention to cleanliness was unacceptable and further reflected poorly on the hotel’s management. Black Tie Dinner The black-tie dinner on Christmas Eve set the tone for a disappointing experience. Despite submitting our menu choices in advance, service was painfully slow, with long waits between courses. When the food finally arrived, it was underwhelming at best. Aside from the soup, the dishes lacked flavor, quality, and attention to detail, leaving us feeling let down on what should have been a festive and elegant evening. Christmas Day Lunch Christmas Day, the highlight of our visit, was completely ruined. The meal, advertised as a six-course gourmet experience with wine pairings, was a failure on every level. Instead of carefully paired wines, we were offered a basic choice of red or white. The delays were even worse than the night before—bread took 40 minutes to arrive, and there were over an hour between courses. Adding to the chaos, we could hear chefs shouting loudly in the kitchen throughout the meal, which shattered any festive atmosphere. To make matters worse, a large party dining in another room seemed to take priority, leaving the rest of the guests feeling neglected. When our main course finally arrived—well past 4 pm—it was a complete disaster: • The sprouts were practically raw. • The beans were barely cooked. • The red cabbage was burnt. This was far from the luxurious Christmas meal we had envisioned. Instead, it felt rushed and poorly executed, leaving us feeling disappointed and cheated out of a special day. Overall This experience ruined what should have been a magical Christmas. While the setting and rooms were undeniably beautiful, the poor organization, disgusting public toil

We booked for two nights over Christmas with the family and wasn’t sure what to expect but we were blown away with everything. The staff were so wonderful and the programme of events kept you well entertained and in the festive mood. The whole two nights felt indulgent. The food was delicious and plentiful and the drinks flowing. Well done Chilston Park, see you next year

I spent Christmas Day at Chilston Park, and it was a rather pleasant experience. The atmosphere was festive, with amazing decorations that created a welcoming environment and even a welcome from the General Manager! The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal, Ella was fantastic as was Jack and the rest of the staff. The Christmas lunch menu offered was brilliant. I particularly enjoyed the roast turkey, which was well-cooked and paired nicely with traditional trimmings. There were also a good vegetarian option which please the wife which in turn I appreciated. Dessert was a highlight, the chocolate Bauble and the Christmas pudding with brandy sauce, which was a lovely way to end the meal. Overall, it was a lovely way to celebrate the day with family. I would highly recommend Chilston Park, first visit and we were impressed. We will be going back in January to try the Afternoon Tea and Dinner. Next on the list though is hide and fox.

I have been to Chilston park a number of times and have always enjoyed my stay. The hotel is lovely with nice seating areas, rooms from traditional to modern, and also lovely grounds. The restaurant is excellent! There is a good choice of dishes including a plant-based section as well. The chef is very creative and does not use sous-vide so the meats taste authentic. We had the quails two way which was lovely. For breakfast, apart from the usual dishes, there is also a "dish of the week" which, today was a yummy Turkish-style eggs. The wine list is to die for - lots of choice and importantly, the mark up is not excessive like in many other restaurants. All the staff are friendly yet professional, making you feel very welcome. I have been here before and will be back again soon.
