We traveled to the Lion hotel for a skiing hoilday in March . Hotel was clean , cumfy , and good value for money . Needed a shuttle bus to the lifts , but this was every 15 mins , or a 15 min walk The food was good , and plenty choice , with free beer and wine . The wine was good , but the beer , not so good ! Will be back sometime

Lovely setting in the pines, we had a large, clean room. It was no bother to get to and from the ski area on the frequent mini bus service from the hotel, quick, easy, and free. Skis are carried in the rear, if you choose to keep them at the hotel. The dining room was pleasant and efficiently run, special mention to Vasil who was always friendly. We found the food choice good and salads fresh and different every day. Special mention to Michel, always pleasant and smiling, behind the hot buffet, thank you! Free wine and beer with dinner was a treat. Last and by no means least, big thanks to Alexander for keeping the wine flowing with the trials and tribulations of the wine pumping system to the barrels! Well done that man! All in all a lovely stay in a great place; pool and sauna/ steam areas very pleasant after skiing, & nice to chill out by the pool with views of the trees.

Really bard experience at night time. I came home without 2 roommates and front desk staff Krisi would not let me in without charge. Hotel was more interested in small card charge than looking after customer who was staying for 5 nights. Despite numerous pleas I was not helped. Bad experience and unfair.

Just come back from a week at the Lion in Borovets. We all have reservations about going to Bulgaria after a lifetime in the Dolomites and the Alps. My reservations were the food and the infrastructure getting up the mountain. I'm pleased to say I needn't have worried. The hotel is great, as is the food, even for us fussy non meat eating types. Wine and beer with dinner included. Room was similar to a Travelodge. Spa and pool are great and unlike other hotels included.Ski room conveniently located. My only slight critisism is the hotel bus needs to be a little bigger. The busy times are between 9 and 10 and 3 and 4.30. It struggles to cope at those times. If you are contemplating Bulgaria then I would say give it a go and stay here.

The food was great, a nice touch you can drink as much wine & beer at dinner time as you can The facilities were fantastic. There is a shuttle bus every 20mins to the slopes. You can walk in to the center in 15mins. The only mark down was the bed was a little bit uncomfortable. But we slept. Over all a great hotel.

We stayed for a weeks skiing, Feb 2024, we really enjoyed ourselves. The went half board, breakfast and tea. The food was good, evening meal options varied each day. Free beer and wine was a nice touch too. The free shuttle into Borovets, was great, ran every 20 mins or so. It was 20 lev in a taxi. The only downside was the beds weren’t comfy and the curtains didn’t keep the light out very well. Other than that would recommend.

The room and facilities were 3 stars at best, perhaps it might have been 4 stars 10 years ago... All facilities are dated and falling apart. Staff apart from the main receptionist lady were predominantly rude especially the male staff to my wife. Beds were worn beyond belief. I am leaving today and don't plan to be coming back again.
