Hotels near Palazzo del Podesta, Bologna

Two stars because it is a nice hotel with comfortable beds. Thats about it. It is certainly not a five star hotel, which it purports to be. We arrived around 8pm and advised reception that we needed to leave for the airport at five am. At some point reception advises that the booking was for one person and they had to charge us for the second. I have never heard of this! So for the extra person for our 8 hour stay, they wanted €100! What the hell for? I looked on a booking sight and showed the receptionist that I could still book a room (which would come with a free bottle of wine) for two people for exactly what I paid. Receptionist kept saying that it would be more if i booked through the hotel. Lets follow the logic here. Why would i book directly through the hotel if the same room is less on a booking sight? The most irritating part is that she kept laughing inappropriately for some unknown reason. The male receptionist kept insisting that the € 100 was for the ”free” hot breakfast. We reminded him that we had to leave before breakfast was served. He assured us that there would be a cart full of food in the morning before we left. Long story short, that did not happen. There was a cart with coffee and a few pastries. But wait, there's more! The man at the reception in the morning told us that if we had asked, they would have made us breakfast. That would have been nice if it was ever suggested by reception at check in! A real five star hotel would have just taken the initiative to prepare the bagged breakfast for us given the conversation had the night before. I also enjoyed how the staff talked down to us insisting that a €100 per person euro fee is totally normal. Because I've never stayed in a hotel before! Thats sarcasm btw. Again, this certainly was not a five star experience. And just to compare apples to apples, we stayed at a four star hotel when we arrived in bologna 10 days earlier. It was 1/5 the cost, the staff much more accommodating and was just as comfortable and nice. So do yourself a favor and ignore the alleged five star rating and save your money and nerves by staying anywhere else.

Great location with great staff. The bell tolls every so often, but it is no bother. Shower is a tad bit tiny but bathroom is big. Lift is available but some rooms on level 2 has a few steps to conquer - do request a room that does not tackle this if you cannot lift your luggage for these few steps. One key per room, but key can be left at reception. We had 4 rooms all up and they mananged to get us all on same floor & close by, as per our request. Again, all the staff are great. Check-in is 3pm, check-out is 11am.

The location is perfect, the hotel is nice. I arrived earlier and asked for a early check in but they said it was not possibile and I was waiting on the sofa. Nobody informed me when the room could be ready to get in.. and when I asked it was actually ready. A pity as someone could notice me about that and not letting me waiting there in the hall… the rest all ok!

Beautiful experience at i Portici Hotel. From the moment we checked in to checkout everything has been great : the staff greeted us in the most courteous and welcoming manner, made the stay a wonderful experience. The room wasn’t considerably spacious, but it was well laid out and functional. Didn’t feel restricted at all. Most importantly very clean. Cannot wait to go back.

We stayed in February. The hotel is very cozy and luxurious. I would give 5 stars for the interior. The hotel is like a palace: sculptures, paintings, rich velour furniture, chic chandeliers. The hotel is large, 6 floors, many rooms, long corridors with a carpet, paintings on the walls and mirrors. The standard room is made in a classic style, fabric on the walls, rich curtains, 10 meters. There is a kettle with coffee and tea. Excellent bed, pillows, bed linen. The room has a bath and bidet. For the first time I see intimate gel in disposable bags. Lots of towels of excellent quality. There was no robe and slippers. Breakfast is delicious, lots of jars of yogurt, jams, honey. They bring coffee, four types of croissants. There is a hot dish, omelet, bacon, pancakes. There is no champagne at breakfast, juices from bags. It's convenient to walk to the railway station with a suitcase, 4-5 minutes. At a cost of 11 thousand per night for two - a luxurious hotel. I recommend it.

I recently stayed at the Hotel NH Bologna de la Gare in Bologna for four nights. Here’s a detailed account of my experience: Location: The hotel is conveniently located near the main Bologna train station. This made it very handy for our day trips to Venice and Florence. The location is one of the best aspects of the hotel. Room: I booked a standard room. While it wasn’t particularly spacious, it was clean, modern, and comfortable. The cleanliness and modernity of the room were quite impressive, especially compared to some older European hotels. Amenities: The hotel has a notable rooftop bar that serves aperitif. It’s a nice place to unwind and enjoy a drink with a view. Service: The check-in and check-out processes were smooth. I arrived a bit before noon, and they let me check in early. On the day of departure, our flight was in the evening, and we were able to check out late for a fee of 10 EUR per hour after 12. The staff were quite friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Dining: I paid for the breakfast, which was serviceable. It was adequate but nothing extraordinary. Overall Experience: The best part of my stay was the location. It made it very easy to explore nearby cities via train. The modern and clean room was also a big plus. I can’t think of any areas for improvement; overall, I’m quite happy with my stay. Recommendation: Yes, I would recommend this hotel to others, mainly for its excellent location and modern rooms. Unlike some older apartments in Europe, the rooms here are updated and comfortable.

The lobby and room was very nice as it’s newly renovated. Location was also great, just opposite the train station and about 20-30 minutes walk into the centre. Staff were all very nice and friendly. The only bad thing was the shower water pressure was too low and the hot water took quite long to come on. The room lighting can also be a bit dim. Breakfast isn’t great so I would recommend to eat outside if you can.

Location is very near to the bologna centrale station ~ 5 mins away. Good especially if you’re lugging a lot of luggages but quite a walk away from the main piazza shopping area ~ took us around 15-20 mins. Room provides 3in1 cappucino and milk creamer! Not all hotels provide these. There are English Tv channels. There is pillow menu even! Room is clean, kettle is cleaned sparkly too. Toilet light went faulty during our stay; flickering. We called reception to inform and she was supposed to call us back to let us know if their technician was still around at work to come and fix it or not but she may have forgotten to return us back the call. Checking out the next day so we didn’t bother but for guests staying longer you may have to call back reception to check….

Rooms were really huge.We had a bath with hydromasage, breakfast was great to. Overall decent hotel. Recommend

Great hotel, very social :)) Clean, stylish, there is something to do without leaving it. It will be interesting for those who travel alone, because... There are activities, evening dances and more. For travelers from Russia with cash - keep in mind, cash free, which means you will not be able to pay the tourist tax or buy something in a bar without a card. Very close to the central station, literally a 5-minute walk, in the other direction from the center, but this was not a problem at all, there were several places nearby with espresso and food where you can pay in cash.
