The lOCATION was very convenient; as their was easy access to Birmingham Wharfside and Mailbox, leaving me with many restaurant options. For those that love to travel into the city to shop this is the perfect location due the Bullring was around a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Upon arrival there was know one at reception to check us in; we waited approximately 5 minutes before a staff member arrived. However the staff member that attended to us we very polite at and helpful. Good SERVICE The hotel rooms itself had an innovative modern style. The bed was very comfortable and linen was beautifully textured, they were also very considerate with towel as they insured that spare towels where provided. I must say the the the rooms were very CLEAN I was also very pleased with the robes that were provided. Contrary to all theses great factors the corridors within the complex are in some much need of a refurb. Apart from the hotel rooms there was no other AMENITIES because unfortunately the guest !NO LONGER HAVE ACCESS TO THE SPA! due to its closure earlier this year. This was very misleading due to the fact that the hotels unique selling point and main advertisement focus was the spa.

A fantastic location for a short stay. Really good facilities and spotlessly clean. Honestly it was quite hard to fault, although the staff did seem somewhat overworked.

The comfort and space are large, and the price/performance ratio is very good compared to London. It only takes 15 minutes to walk to eat authentic Sichuan cuisine in Deyang! I recommend everyone to eat at Shuxiangyuan! You can buy things at the small supermarket on the way back. The scenery is beautiful when you wake up in the morning! Prices are much cheaper than in London! A grilled fish is about 10 pounds cheaper!

The room facilities are a bit old, but the sky bar on the roof of the hotel is very distinctive. Sitting by the window, you can overlook the whole city of Birmingham, and the night view is also very beautiful. Overall not bad

We Paid £175 for 1 night breakfast included. Upon check in we got told there was a £50 refundable damage deposit which will remain in pending and re-credit your account once you have checked out if there is no damage to the room. When we got to the room there was a broken tile in the bathroom, stains on the ceiling & all over the carpet and the air con wasn’t working, the room wasn’t up to standard at all for the price we paid. I’ve never come across having to pay an additional £50 for potential room damage, I find that insulting after you’ve already paid for the room, particularly to then come across a filthy carpet and a room with no air-con in a glass building! We went downstairs to check out and get a full refund and the 2 ladies were blunt and couldn’t seem less bothered if they tried. Didn’t even ask why we were leaving and gave no apology. I would avoid - We stayed at The Holiday Inn Express on Holliday Street, much friendlier service & a clean room!

Grotty hotel disgusting stains all over carpet in room. Dirty tiles and grout. Super basic room with a bed from hell. Cleaning of this place leaves a lot of questions, I even found someone elses left over pack of 4 tesco buns in the wardrobe so clearly never checked. Gross stains on bed. Will never stay here again

It used to be too hot. Now it's too cold. We were concerned after reading reviews about the broken AC but reasoned that October isnt that hot so we wouldn't cancel and rebook elsewhere. What we didn't reckon on was that it would be too cold with the weather having turned chilly. Yes we asked for a second duvet, which worked well. But without AC to heat the air, the steam from the bathroom couldn't get away, collected on the windows and I can see the rooms getting damp. Then we got an oil filled radiator. On check in we were told that the AC had been fixed. It was a lie. The housekeepers admitted that none of the AC is working in any of the rooms.

Friendly staff on reception, rooms on 24 floor but the room can with a great view over the canal and Birmingham towards Bindley Place. Room was clean and tidy with everything you would expect. Nice touch was a fridge with bottles of water and milk. Go for breakfast in Marco Pierre and you will be treated to panoramic views of the city. They food was great too

Currently I am staying at the hotel and AC is not working. The hotel said none of the rooms have a working AC. Apparently it’s been fixed so ask before you make a reservation. If I had known I may have booked somewhere else. The rooms are hot but has a standalone fan that barely works.

You are literally staying in a glass house with no air con. Been broken 6 months even though they say its being fixed. Completely unbearable temperature and this was in september ! To add to the hilarity they actually charged me twice and then asked if i was sure ! Never given as low a review ever. DO NOT BOOK

Check in was efficient, receptionist was very pleasant. Got to our room & the heat inside was unbearable, it was a hot dry heat & felt like we were in an oven. An error message was flashing on the a/c panel so went back to reception. Asked if we could swap rooms but was advised that the hotel was full. Was told that they would reset the a/c & it would start working in 15-20 mins. The reset did not work. I checked on their website for availability & found rooms were available, so called reception to ask again for an alternative room. The story then changed & was then advised that all rooms were affected & maintenance were working on it but could not say when issue would be resolved. I was told if I didn’t want the room I could check out & get a full refund, not ideal as we needed to stay over for the night, but it was so bad we cancelled the room - This was the best decision we made. From this point our experience improved, by the time we got down to reception to check out, the receptionist had found a room at Mal Maison hotel, he helped me reserve the room and promised to make sure our refund was processed. He is the only reason I felt comfortable giving a 1 star review, otherwise I wouldn’t want to give any stars. I was advised there was no manager on duty, so could not escalate my complaint This is obviously an on going problem as other reviews also report a/c problems. With so many people reporting the same issue, hotel management needs to start listening to their guests, to start supporting their staff & to take action.

If you enjoy your room to be really really hot and airless then The Cube is for you, otherwise avoid at all cost! They have a serious problem with the room air conditioning, basically it doesn’t work. Rather than tell you when you check in, they let you find out for yourself, which becomes apparent as soon as you open the door! We were on level 24, changed rooms once. First room had five fans whirring away, second room, still hot, had one, but we were told they had no more spare rooms. It was like sleeping in a WW2 Japanese sweat box! You needed to keep the fan on during the night just to push the heated air around, but the noise made it difficult to sleep. The noise from the disco on the floor above caused the ceiling to vibrate and boom. The floor tiling in the bathroom was cracked, loose and had grout missing. Positives - great Brum city scape views and great breakfast, but that’s about it I’m afraid. We paid good money for what we thought was going to be a memorable 4 Star experience, but we left highly disappointed.

Rooms are worn out. Carpets are dirty, furniture broken. Housekeeping team forgot to service our room. Unhelpful staff. They do not change cups, glasses. They do not even refill soap jars. I won’t recommend this hotel. Breakfast is great and staff at the restaurant for breakfast nice and helpful
