The Hotel Balkan is one of Belgrade's oldest and most famous hotels, located at the corner of Terazije and Prizrenska Streets in the city center. The original hotel building was built around 1860, and the current building dates back to 1935, after the old hotel was demolished due to dilapidation. Over the years, the hotel has been renovated several times, most recently in 2005. And it shows; it's unfortunately been too long. The good times are clearly over. Apart from the excellent location, nothing else is particularly impressive. Since there are many good alternatives in the immediate vicinity, we would not recommend this accommodation.

Rather odd hotel. Good central location and helpful staff. Nice breakfast. Very traditional Austrian/German style decor makes it seem for old people. Then bizarrely at breakfast we had loud punk/heavy metal music pumped out over breakfast at 7.30am. Just weird.
