I stayed for two nights this week and I would highly recommend Devonshire House if you are visiting Bath. It is in a lovely area just up the hill from the centre of the Bath, which is only a short bus journey away, and there is a regular bus service to take you into Bath bus station. The room was clean and the bed was comfy:) and there is tea and coffee in the room. The breakfast was excellent, and even better it is delivered just outside the bedroom door in the morning:). There is a lounge for guests to use also which was enjoyable to return to, after a busy time sightseeing in Bath. Liz from the bed and breakfast was welcoming and helpful with questions about Bath. Thank you.

Great one might stay. Room was modern bright and very clean. Bed comfy with crisp white linen. En-suite lovely with complimentary hand wash / shower gel / moisturiser. Nice to have a ceiling fan as well as desk fan. Tea / coffee making facilities. Sophie was super lovely, helpful with great knowledge of the local area. Walk into the city was about 20 mins down hill. Just be mindful that it’s steep in places and up hill on the way back! Would recommend!

The room was great: the room and bathroom are clean, the shower is operable with minimal stress, the mattresses are comfy, the desk/eating nook is super cute, and the decor is nice, but the really important thing about the Devonshire arms is the friendly and helpful owners. This really is a cute B and B, and in this case that really means kind and personal service. Chris accommodated an early check in and welcomed us with friendly chat and directions. He really cares about making sure his guests have a great time, to the point of actually handing out laminated direction cards for the scenic route into the city center (do this walk, it really is beautiful and a lovely way to orient yourself). When--due to not reading the info on the website as carefully as I should have--I ended up removing all the bedding from our room in a panic due to the fact that I am allergic to down, Chris ok this in stride. He didn't chastise me for failing to call ahead and didn't look put out at all, instead he just assured us that the bedding would be non-feather when we came back from our first outing. Of course, it was, and it was also very comfortable; the duvet and pillows were fluffy and soft, definitely not a "back of the closet" situation. I also emailed him at 11pm to ask for breakfast the next morning AND to extend our stay by one day (because I realized that many other things I wanted to do were near bath) and he acquiesced with no issues. All of these things meant a lot to me, as, due to life being life, I hadn't planned for this trip as carefully as I would have liked and have been kind of "winging it." Chris helped make the Bath segment fun and stress free, even though my ducks were NOT in a row haha. The ONLY reason I can think of that this might not be ideal for someone is that it is almost a mile away from the main attractions. For my husband and, this was NBD, as the walk is pleasant (even not the "scenic route" is nice) and the walk in is downhill. There are also busses you can take to get up the hill leaving pretty regularly, and these busses also go other cool places. But, if you or a loved one has limited mobility that would relying on bus schedules and ride share apps to get to and from the city center a hassle, this may not be the perfect location for you. TL;DR: This place is an absolute steal for walkers and the service is friendly, flexible, and helpful. You're definitely in good hands at Devonshire house.

Our room was very spacious—complete with a seating area, a makeup table, a curio for clothes, and a large bathroom. We also appreciated the in room coffee and tea, which was a great added bonus. You're just steps away from a grocery store, making it easy to grab anything you need. It's about 20–30 minute walk to the Baths main bus station but you can take the bus for $2-$3 per person just down the street. Ten to fifteen minutes to the panoramic views of Bath. In the opposite direction, a short 15–20 minute walk uphill takes you to the Red Lion Pub, which is reasonably priced and a variety. Closer to town, you’ll also find Bear Inn and a Fish and Chips shop, both with great value and variety. We didn’t try the continental breakfast due to allergies, but it is available at an additional cost. Next door is the Devonshire Arms Pub, which serves beer, wine, liquor, and crisps (but no meals). Devonshire’s owner personally introduced himself, offered great local recommendations, and even waited with us for our Uber on the day of departure. He also left us excellent directions to the best panoramic views of Bath.

I treated my boyfriend to a weekend away and found this little gem. Spoke to Louise during the booking process, who was really helpful, when they were advised it was my boyfriend 50th they left a card and some chocolates in the room. On arrival, room was really clean and had a bath. Chris recommended loads of stuff to do in bath and we did the free walking tour which was really informative. Lovely place to stay and we'll recommend. Can't state about the breakfast as didn't have it.

We had such a lovely stay at Laburnum Cottage at Devonshire House in Bath. The cottage was cosy, beautifully decorated, and had everything we could possibly need. Louise and Chris really thought of everything, even tea, coffee, sugar, and milk were waiting for us when we arrived. Louise and Chris are so friendly and welcoming, and gave us some really helpful tips for our visit. They also left a birthday card and some chocolates, which was such a thoughtful surprise and really made our day! We loved having a private parking space too, it made things so much easier and we knew the car was safe. The location was great, just a short walk into the city centre, so we could explore Bath without needing to drive and find parking. We’d definitely recommend staying here, and we’d love to come back! Thank you so much Louise and Chris for a lovely stay xx
