3 generations of our family stayed at the Edgar Townhouse over the weekend from 2 80 year olds down to 2 30 year olds and we all had a wonderful stay. The staff were so helpful including providing umbrellas, help with our luggage and just interested in what we were doing and how our stay was going. We had 4 rooms all of which were lovely especially room 19. The location of the hotel is so convenient to access the centre of Bath and the breakfasts were amazing - so many options! I had to make changes to our arrangements before arriving and I always received a prompt and helpful response to my emails. We will certainly visit again.

Stayed for 3 nights, spacious room with more than adequate facilities, as we visited in a heatwave the ceiling fan in our room was a godsend. Good location to walk into the centre of Bath to visit the key sites, bars and restaurants. Really enjoyed our stay in Bath and would recommend The Edgar House.

We loved the Edgar Townhouse and the staff. We stayed in the quadruple room with a king and two twin beds on the second floor. Very clean! Very comfortable! There is not a lift, but Theo was kind to help us with luggage. The breakfast is a highlight…delicious, with many choices, and we loved the coziness of the breakfast room. Another plus is the location. It is so convenient that we were able to walk to sightsee and to all of our dinners. Many thanks to Theo for his help while we were there and for making our stay delightful!

I was in a basement room. It was a bit musty, but clean.
The staff was very friendly.

Edgar Townhouse, is very conveniently situated. An easy walk to and from the town and train station. It’s quiet and clean the staff friendly and efficient. Quirky decor. Well equipped comfortable rooms.

Our second stay at The Edgar Townhouse and we were not disappointed. We got a lovely warm welcome before heading up to our room (a twin bedded room on the 2nd Floor with a lovely view of Great Pulteney Street). Our first day got off to a great start after being warmly greeted by Theo and partaking of a very tasty, freshly cooked breakfast before heading out. We stayed for 5 nights in total, the location is great as its just a few minutes walk to Pulteney Bridge and the city centre. Bath Spa station is about a ten minute walk which is very handy for day trips to nearby places. Highly recommend staying here and we will be back again!

Colazione ottima e molto varia. Consigliatissimo!

My husband and I have just spent the weekend in Bath celebrating my birthday. The Edgar Townhouse was such a find! We loved our stay. The staff are super friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfasts were amazing! Our bedroom was cosy and comfy. We had a minor issue on our first night with the electrics in our room and it unfortunately wasn't fixable by Management. An electrician was called and arrived within 20 minutes and fixed the problem super fast! It really wasn't a problem for us and we sat and read in the gorgeous reading room. However we were offered many apologies and a wonderful bottle of bubbly. It really wasn't necessary but such a lovely gesture. Such a great location too. We definitely will be visiting again in the future and highly recommend.

We were greeted by a surly man at reception who acted as though guests checking in, was an inconvenience and as though he had had enough of guests. After being told we ‘had’ to pay £6 for extra towels ( which we didn’t want) he eventually explained it was the second person surcharge but took offence because I didn’t want breakfast. (I’d seen the ‘dining room’ which was small with small tables squashed very close to each other. ) He explained there was a phone number to ring staff after 7pm as none stayed on the premises later than that. Then he showed us to an awful room in the basement. Yes, it was as bad as it sounds. It was dark, small, with a very small double bed ( because of the very small size of the room) . Just before 7 we returned to the hotel after an early meal out and wanted to sit in the sitting room but he explained it was locked as he was about to leave. As only guests had a key to open the front door, ’ I wondered why guests couldn’t use the sitting room after 7. Anyway he let us in the sitting room and told us to lock the room when we were done and drop the key in a box. That night we discovered that the mattress sagged and sunk down terribly so was horribly uncomfortable. The room was way too hot and we couldn’t open the window. It was very hard to sleep. Outside the pavement was above us but people could see in if we didn’t keep the net curtains carefully positioned. Too hot to sleep even though we turned the radiator off. Bed sagging. Claustrophobic below ground dark small room. Had a very bad night. I told the woman on reception in the morning but she asked if we had paid for it personally or the university and when we said it was the university, she just shrugged. I seriously wouldn’t stay here.
