I used this hotel last week for work and was impressed with the room. The room was a good size nice and warm and clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Its in a cracking location just a few minute walk to the train station and to all the local attractions

On arrival , the receptionest was really welcoming and helpful. The hotel was very clean and tidy, very well presented. The receptionest also helped me with my bags to my room when I arrived, which was very helpful as I had a bad back, and it was a struggle. Thank you for your help

So - it seems like the review I did via a Travelodge survey failed to go through. Possibly because it was such a bad experience and they somehow stop low ratings going through! (For info I've just done the same for a Travelodge stay in Bristol which was very good and no error messages;-) ). So this Travelodge was a very convenient location. The reception was okay - but accessed via steps or a lift, which took quite some time to arrive. On arrival to the room the bed linen looked used (thrown on) and the bathroom mirror wiped with a dirty mop. Soap was missing. It just felt like there was a lack of attention, time and quality checking. I advised the receptionist who said she would sort it. On my return the soap had been added and the mirror wiped. The bed was the same. I went to make a cup of tea and noticed the kettle had some white stuff on the outside. I tried to wipe it off, but then realised it was everywhere inside. I took the kettle to the receptionist and said the kettle quite clearly hadn't been checked and someone had either cooked in it or heated something in it. The receptionist was very good and she provided me with a new kettle. There was a suggestion the kettle had been used for reheating breast milk for a family (sorry but this is gross). Even if it was baby formula - I'm vegan and lactose intolerant - so that also was hazardous. I left a note to speak to the manager. On checking out I said I wanted to discuss the situation with the cleaning and kettle as it really was poor. I was told she would investigate the matter and call me. I never received a response. I did the Travelodge survey, but when it asked me to complete a Tripadvisor review I couldn't submit it with one star. It just wouldn't submit. So I've balanced my very good rating for Bristol tonight - by reviewing the Bath travelodge which was appalling. There was no redress and only the apology by the night receptionist who was understandable. I don't expect much from a Travelodge - but I do want a clean room with supplies and not drink someone else's breast milk when I have a cup of tea.

Wonderful stay. The staff, particularly Beth and Chloe, were incredibly helpful and friendly. The accessible room was excellent and the breakfast was top class and really good value. All in all, another enjoyable stay at a Premier Inn. We’ll be back!0

We would never stay here again. We arrived at teatime - the corridors were littered with rubbish and cleaning trollies. However, once the trollies disappeared, the corridors remained dirty. Our room had used towels and empty water bottles under the beds, and had clearly never been hoovered around the edges. The bath had a really slippery mat in it that was dangerous, along with a flickering light which could apparently not be fixed - for someone with epilepsy this is dangerous. The bathroom was mouldy, the plug hole full of hair and gunk. It looked like it’s never been cleaned properly. There was constant banging throughout the night from below and the corridors. This is a budget hotel but I’d have been happier sleeping in the car. It’s like a cheap hostel. We stay in lots of budget hotels as well as more expensive one and have never experienced something like this.

Hotel very good, staff are both helpful and friendly. Restaurant is great. Whilst I was aware parking would be chargeable, I wasn’t aware from the website that the closest city centre car parks are 4 hrs max - the nearest long-stay is a 10 min walk away and cost me £18 to park overnight. With small children plus luggage, this was a real hassle.

Good location - easy walk to train station and main attractions (Roman Baths, Abbey etc). Very friendly Reception staff and it was great to be able to leave our bags both before and after check in. Family room was good size and clean with all expected facilities but did feel quite shabby. Paint was peeling in bedroom and bathroom and although attempts had been made to repaint the bedroom the walls seemed to have been only partly painted and with a different colour to the rest of the walls! Breakfast in the restaurant was good and remains good value as we got the children’s breakfasts for free.
