Charlcombe Inn

Very welcoming and friendly staff. Comfortable tables and chairs both inside and outside in two gardens. Evening meals were superb-crispy battered cod and chilli beef were both delicious. Ice cream selection was very good too! Bedrooms in the courtyard were of a very high standard- everything you needed immaculately cleaned. Chairs and tables in the courtyard too. Owners were very helpful regarding Bath and good advice to use the park and ride- just up the road and every 15 minutes. Would highly recommend!

This was our last stay on a month long trip before heading back to Heathrow. It was also the most we paid for accommodations in that month, so were expecting a little more than delivered. Room was average, in a ground floor outbuilding that we suspect was a stable at some point in its existence. Nice shower, use the bath mat provided, or else you'll slide right off that crazy slippery floor. Just as an aside, not one place we stayed provided washclothes, what's with that? The two twin beds seemed comfortable initially, but woke up with a stiff back both mornings. They also seemed more narrow than most, one turn to your side and you were at the edge. Temperature did not regulate well, hot and cold throughout the night. And as with everywhere else, you were provided just with a heavy comforter, no sheet or light blanket as an option, so it was all or nothing. Another mystery, like the absence of washcloths. Breakfast was ok, typical full English but did add some other options. A small bar with fruit, juice, yogurt and cereal is offered before ordering your entree from the breakfast menu. Eggs Benedict was good if a little bland, served without any side. I asked it I could have a little toast with avocado and was told it would be a 11 pound charge, I said no thanks. I couldn't really recommend a stay here but at the same time it's an expensive area for accommodations so plan accordingly.

Amazing stay in a quiet location Very comfortable, stylish room with lovely decor. Bed was comfy and the shower was powerful. Very quiet location with views over the racecourse. All staff were friendly and welcoming. Had an amazing evening meal, good choice of drinks. Enjoyed breakfast in the morning with a choice of cereal, yogurts and juice and a cooked option. We both had poached eggs which were cooked perfectly. Only slight downside was due to the layout of the rooms it felt necessary to keep the blind shut so other guests couldn’t see in. Would highly recommend and will be back.
