We needed to stay over in Basildon for one night so were looking for something cheap and cheerful. This Travelodge in the Festival Leisure park ticked all the boxes. Free parking and quite close to where we needed to be. This hasn't been given 5 stars because its a luxury hotel, it's not. But what it is is clean and cheap, the room was a decent size considering what we paid for it and everything was clean. Good sized bed with nice comfy pillows. So it ticks all the basics. Huge leisure park carpark to use so parking has no worries what-so-ever. We stayed on a Thursday night so the noise that other reviewers mentioned we didn't experience at all it may also have helped that we had a room facing the back of the hotel, not the carpark out the front, it was all nice and quiet for us. I guess all the above would usually earn 3 or 4 stars but the receptionist who greeted us was an absolute delight. Polite and friendly and very helpful with local knowledge and helping me get Taxi's to and from where we needed to go. She made the difference and is indeed a credit to the company.
