Great room decent size friendly staff. Only down side to it the bed was hard and the pillows were thin. Hot water was hit and miss in the shower one day you will have some the next you don't. The heating didn't work in the room but got a heater from reception. Overall a pleasant stay and would stay there again.

I can now understand why The Mount Hotel insist taking payment 24hrs before arrival because if I had the option to pay on arrival I would have walked away. It would be my guess that the pictures and images displayed in the advertisement were taken a number of years ago. The irony of our stay was the hotel staff pointing out that the hotel was in a residential area and to keep noise to a minimum when leaving or returning during the evening. When we approached the hotel at 10.30 pm the music was clearly audible from 200mtrs away when we entered the hotel we asked staff how long the noise would continue and we were informed that "tonight was tame and usually by this time people are throwing up on the way out of the door. When we arrived in our room the base was that loud that the windows were vibrating and shaking even wearing commercial ear plugs the noise was intolerable I have never been so glad to see midnight and for the music to stop in my life. I cant imagine why anyone would allow this level of noise knowing full well people have paid good money for a relaxing stay. Avoid at all cost.

Worst place I've ever stayed. Please don't waste your money on this shoddy, smelly, dirty unprofessional place. Everything was awful. I have nothing positive to say. The front of house staff look scruffy and rough around the edges. They don't even try and be professional. It seemed a few rooms were being used as a place for street workers to conduct their business. I can't even describe it as a hotel. It looks and feels more like a halfway house. I've stayed in hostels that had more class than this place. It's gross. My gf and I overheard the manageress slagging off some guests. She's foul and very unprofessional. She is in the wrong profession, managing is not her forté! The photos are very misleading because it doesn't look like any of them. I'm amazed they've gotten away with such false advertising.

Extremely basic and not pleasant at all. Unfortunately we were not impressed with The Mount Rooms at all. The photos were extremely misleading and the room was noisy - from pipework, toilets flushing in the next room, badly insulated doors so we could hear every conversation on the landing. It was shockingly awful. The room was boiling hot, there was no fan and the bed was lumpy which all in all meant that I got no sleep. The staff however were lovely, very informative, welcoming and friendly. Just a shame the rest of the ‘recently refurbished’ hotel was terrible.

This hotel was a disaster from the moment we arrived. The staff were rude and unprofessional, more interested in rolling cigarettes at the front desk or smoking outside than helping guests. Unsurprisingly, the reception area constantly smelled of smoke. We paid for 3 rooms for 4 nights, and every single one was dirty. Shower curtains were stained, bath bases worn through, soap dispensers grimy, mugs unwashed, and windows filthy. Pillows were old, flat, and badly stained — far from acceptable. Basic facilities were either broken, filthy, or completely neglected. The cold water tap in one room didn’t work and, despite asking daily, maintenance never once came to fix it. The coffee machine was out of order for our entire stay, the lift was unavailable when we needed it with a pram, and the bar was never staffed — we had to wait for employees to finish smoking before being served. To top it off, despite booking a family room, we weren’t given one. This hotel is mismanaged, unhygienic, and falls far below even the lowest standards. Paying guests deserve better. Avoid this place at all costs.

Possibly the worst hotel I have stayed in, my family booked in to this hotel for three nights, we were in Wales for a family funeral. On arrival to the hotel, the first thing to strike me was how run down the hotel looked from the outside, in desperate need of a face lift, the front steps had lots of cigarette stubs lying about. When we got to reception it looked presentable, we collected our room keys and off we went, the main staircase to the rooms was dirty, the carpets were badly stained the hand rail looked terribly grubby and dirty. On arrival at the rooms, the smell when you opened the door was musty and old, again stained carpets, yellow with age were the headboards on the beds, the bathrooms were not clean and fresh. The whole place was very basic to say the least, as a family we all agreed we would not feel comfortable sleeping in the beds. One of our party went to reception initially to complain about the smell in her room, she was handed a bottle of deodorising spray to mask the smell. The pictures speak for themselves! I would definitely not recommend this hotel, the website pictures are misleading and do not represent a true reflection of what the standards are in the inside or outside of this hotel.

Just what me and my girlfriend needed for an affordable night. Was a very short drive from Barry Island and the staff where lovely. Wasn’t expecting much for the price as it was only about £23 each for 2 of us, however it had everything that we would have needed. The only downside was the carpark since it was very small and we basically got blocked in and took 10 minutes to get out with the help from a local. However this was soon forgotten about and we will be choosing The Mount Rooms again next time👍

For the price you pay to stay you can't complain too much. However, if we had paid anymore I would've been fuming. On the positive side the gentleman on reception was lovely, very friendly, helpful, polite, happy to help. However, the negative much outweigh the positives im afraid. Fag ends all over the floor/steps at the front of the property. Parking is a bit of a free for all, on a steep slant, we didn't feel our car was particularly safe from damage. Our room was mostly clean, the TV did not work though and we were just given instructions on how to fix it ourselves, it was an inch thick in dust behind it when I checked if the arial was plugged in. Our room was right next to the corridor door at the top of the stairs so we had the slamming of the door for a lot of the evening and a strange buzzing noise all night that we could not figure out what it was. The corridor door at the top of the stairs also creaked! So it would make a huge difference if maintenance would oil it to at least minimise that noise. It didn't look like the tiles around the shower and bath had been cleaned. The bed was a small double but it was comfortable. The hallway carpets are old, marked and need replacing. The whole place needs an overall refurbishment. The worst part for me was the shocking "continental" breakfast. It was £4.95 which i thought was cheap so didn't expect much. However it was literally a plate of bread or crumpets next to a toaster. An instant coffee or a choice of a couple of cereals. So I paid 4.95 per person for an instant coffee and a crumpet. Not even a filter coffee at least, and the instant was awful! I wish we had gone to weatherspoons. The dining room was falling apart, old tattered decorations hanging down, old dusty table ornaments, wonkey tables, waited over 10mins to even get that instant coffee. They dont do hot food or a nice coffee/latte even though they were calling it a "bistro". You could get a sausage bap if you pre order it the night before for breakfast. We didn't use the bar but it looked nice. There is a gym but I didn't go to look at it. For the price though it was ok for 1 night. Don't bother with the breakfast though. The staff seemed the best thing about the hotel and its location.
