Chic & Basic Lemon Boutique Hotel

Staying at this hotel on my second visit to Barcelona, I really discovered Barcelona! The location is so good that everything is very close by, metro, bus stops, restaurants, shops and most of the tourist spots! And the best thing is the friendly staff who support us in every way! The free coffee, tea and water service on the magnificent terrace made our vacation even better. They were also very helpful in taking care of our luggage. My Barcelona vacation with my sister was perfect thanks to them, thank you very much!

An older style building with a lift. Nice out door green area or air conditioned indoor seated area with tea, coffee and water supplied. Rooms a bit ‘tired’, threadbare curtains and shower over the bath. However, comfy beds, crisp sheets and fresh towels daily.

The location was great, we walked everywhere. The room was clean and had everything you needed. Very comfy bed. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will recommend to friends . Beautiful outside area to relax with free tea, coffee, drinks etc.

I stayed at Chic & Basic Hotel from May 17th to 19th. Overall, the hotel met expectations in terms of accommodation and basic service. However, a very unpleasant experience after check-out left a negative impression. As in many hotels, we left our luggage at the reception to enjoy the rest of the day in the city. When we returned around 5 PM, we decided to sit at the hotel bar and have a drink. I kindly asked the waitress about a promotion for Aperol Spritz, and she informed us it would only start at 6 PM – which is totally fine. The issue wasn’t the promotion. It was what she said next — assuming we didn’t understand Spanish, she turned to her colleague and said: “No voy a hacer excepción con esta gente, porque después tengo que hacer excepción con todo el mundo.” (“I’m not making an exception for these people, or I’ll have to make it for everyone.”) Referring to my wife and me as “these people” felt disrespectful, discriminatory, and unprofessional. We were polite at all times, and expected the same in return. What could have been a pleasant goodbye turned into a moment of discomfort. Respect is a key part of hospitality, and unfortunately, it was lacking here. I hope the hotel management takes this feedback seriously — not just for us, but for the many other guests who deserve to be treated with dignity, regardless of language or background.
