Riverside Holiday Apartments

Centre of town. No spare blankets, basic room with microwave, toaster and mini fridge. Reception open but unattended during our stay. Booked through Trip and thought I was booking a 1bdroom apartment from the description and pictures. Confirmation of booking was for a standard double room with a Queen bed. It was a double bed. Wouldn't stay there again.

The hotel rooms are overpriced for what they are. Filthy stinky sticky carpet and lukewarm 'hot' water in the shower. But the worst part is the establishment across the road ( Australian Hotel) which is EXTREMELY! loud and was a total torture.

Check in was quick and easy. My room 107, Was clean and tidy, but very dark. The balcony was huge, but the view was not very pleasant. The back of shops. Secure parking was provided. No room service. I am glad I only stayed one night with the view I had.

Interesting. Had some great elements, some average elements and some not so good points. There are a number of different apartment types on offer and we had the cheaper non river facing rooms (cheaper). You pay more for the better views, but it is good to have choice. The great - awesome location on the river, near a large supermarket (Woolworths), and other nice venues like cafes and Club. Really convenient. The average - the service was minimal although quick and efficient. The secure car park is appreciated, although a bit tight in some areas. The bed and amenities in the room were OK, nothing special. It had a small microwave which was useful and a large balcony which unfortunately only overlooked a laneway and backs of shops. The room was quite dark with little natural light, and dated, but clean and comfortable. The price was maybe a little over the venue value, but pretty close comparative to what is on offer in town. Not so good - the noisy trucks at 5.30am were definitely not appreciated, albeit out of the control of the Managers.

It has been a few years since our last visit, so we were prepared as the building is getting on in years, But we were pleasantly surprised at how well kept the common areas were, this we hoped would carry over to the apartment. Had asked for a high floor but we were given the 1st floor in apt 105. Upon entering we were pleasantly surprised on how large the apartment was but disappointed on how dark it was. Heavy dark furniture & black drapes. Upon further inspection the kitchen was a lot lighter & very modern. The views to the River from the very large balcony made up for the dark interior. 2bed 2bath which we like, only a queen bed in master 2 singles in 2nd bedroom. Big flat screen TV. Great fridge with ice maker. Keyless entry, secure lift & carpark which is free & to us that is a big bonus. The apt was also very clean, kudos to the cleaning staff. (except the coffee mugs which could do with a good scrub oh & some soap dishes in the bathrooms, as soap slips all over & into the basin, minor gripe i know but practical) Easy walk to RSL n a Tavern . Plenty of eateries all in walking distance, Woolworths next door.

The second bedroom shower was mouldy and could not be used. They advertise health facilities and pool as features, however both were locked with no guest access, the guest compendium confirmed the gym was in fact not available to guests.
