Sepilok Jungle Resort

We stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely loved it! The standard rooms are on the basic side, however for the money we paid we felt this was more than adequate (Considering you are in the middle of the jungle). The staff and the food were amazing and you’re well fed with the free breakfast! Actually very surprised at the previous reviews on here as the staff went above and beyond to cater to us and seemed really interested in our travel plans etc. Nothing was ever a bother for them and they seemed to really like their jobs from our point of view. We did make an effort to speak to all the staff (human decency), which in turn they were always super welcoming to us! The closeness to the attractions you want to see in Sepilok is the main bonus, with the orangutans and the sun bears being within a 10 minute walk. We spoke to some other travellers who weren’t staying here but came for lunch and they said how they highly regretted not booking here as theirs was practically derelict. The pool area is great for a cool down and very refreshing and the wildlife we seen around the resort alone was amazing. We 100% would come back and would definitely recommend!

Solo traveller. Staying 2 nights. Place was good. WiFi available. Cleanliness is great. Great staff. Parking available. Drive own car would be better. Hotel is a bit away from city centre. Nearby restaurant and Laundry shop available. Hotel still great although after the pandemic.

Ctrip is ****. Don't book on Ctrip. It says the price includes tax, but you still have to pay the ttx tourism tax when you arrive. All other platforms include all taxes when booking hotels. Ctrip attracts customers with low prices, but it's very troublesome to pay offline. I battled with the customer service but they couldn't provide the tax rate explanation, which is quite inexplicable. Check-in was slow. The room was small, but the hardware was nice and new. It was cheaper to pay for the buffet breakfast directly at the store than to order it online with the meal included.

Location is strategic but this hotel neglected the umph factor but stayable. Rest room needs to be upgraded. Overall the hotel is clean. Just 2 star hotel men. Towels are 5 star grade.

Great location at the Bandar Utama Sandakan, walking distance to local food. The hotel room is small, almost no extra space to walk after open the luggage. The toilet will be flooded each time after shower as there is no separation between the shower area and toilet area, hence the toilet always wet. Cleanliness needed to improve.

One of the cheapest budget hotel in sandakan but with affordable price for backpackers. This was my family trip with parents. So my parents got the reception floor room while i got the second floor with stairs only. No lift.
