Romance Valley

Dont misguide by photos and comments. Only tour guides have uploaded the comments mostly. So dont let comments fool you people. If u want to experience smelly bathrooms, unsanitary cooking and uncleaned bedsheets and one of the worst hotels u can visit is this property. So fake unlike photos and everything. When asked for a refund there is no particular owner also. Such daylight robbers. So not worth the money. When we were there some foreigners also came and left by seeing the condition of the place. Definitely not a hotel.

Beautiful place with kindly and very friendly staff. Very helpful. Call the hotel before then they can arrange a cheaper transport.

Mat look good but... The property must've looked stunning when built, but years of neglect show noticeably. Staff is very friendly but I think they're not very expert in running an accommodation as a business, so it was a lot of hit and miss. The owner must be obsessed with Versace, as everything has been marked with a fake Medusa logo, which more than classy looks tacky (but that's personal taste). The property is very far from everything and only accessible through a narrow scary road, so once you're in you're unlikely to be wanting to leave again. WiFi is way too weak to even check Facebook and only fee rooms have Netflix. Food is lovely but dinner are way overpriced. Location is very nice and secluded. Katerina who is there for a few weeks more is amazing! All in all, I think it is overpriced for what it is. Or the property should make that but if an effort to turn the place around.

I enjoyed a 2-night stay here, with a couple of friends, who paid for my accommodation, which was very clean and comfortable. The meals were delicious, the service was good, and wifi was available. The view from the dining room is beautiful. It was calming to hear the sound of water flowing, from the stream nearby. My friends spotted a deer, when we went for a walk in the surrounding woods. The full moon could be seen from the bathroom window. We visited Ella during the day. Since accommodation in Ella is very expensive, it was a good choice to stay at Romance Valley.

We booked 2 nights with Romance valley, and were a little apprehensive when we read the reviews on trip advisor, and we almost considered cancelling our booking, however we decided to bite the bullet and go anyway, and I AM SO GLAD we did, because Romance Valley is just a perfect slice of heaven, that you will be very sad to miss out on! All the rooms have STUNNING views of the mountains towards the south of Sri Lanka, a mist keeps coming in and going out almost like a painting on a canvas is being revealed, it’s truly spectacular. The rooms are huge, well furnished, with beautiful paintings. The beds are SO comfortable and the pillows are some of the softest I have seen in Sri Lanka. Mr. Kumudu was extremely helpful from the very start and made all our requests a possibility, we were even able to bring our dogs which was amazing. The staff are so lovely, there was no request that was too much for them. They were extremely attentive and even suggested places for us to get set up in the evenings. Romance valley is also an architectural marvel! It is just oozing with character and is a true dream for those with an eye for design. The food was great and so was the portion size, it is absolute value for money for what you pay. We will definitely come back to Romance Valley, and we thank Mr. Kumudu and his staff for making our stay so memorable!
