Nyikani Camp - Tarangire

We really enjoyed this slightly rustic camp in the middle of the park. Staff were very kind and accommodating and sweet with our kids. The bucket shower is an experience:)

Tarangire Park is a special place. If you are lucky enough to spend time there you have to treat yourself to the Niyikani Camp. The setting is spectacular. The food is wonderful. But what really sets it apart is the warmth and professionalism of the staff. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and knowledgeable and eager to provide the best service possible. Yes, the accommodations are semi-permanent tents with bucket showers. The tents are extremely clean and comfortable with great beds and large bathrooms. The showers were prepared faster than requested. There was plenty of warm water to clean yourself thoroughly. The food was fresh and well prepared. We enjoyed each meal. I can’t say enough good things about our stay.

Nice spot in central Tarangire. Staff was friendly and food was good. We did a night game drive which was interesting even though we didn't get to see too much. The bucket showers were a neat experience, but I'm glad we only had them at this location. The other lodges and camps we stayed in had hot water, but I'm glad we got to be a little more rustic at least once.

What an awesome place in an amazing location. The service here is spectacular. One of the guys spent time with my kids trying to teach them a bit of Swahili which was super cool. The food was great. The tents are enormous. I had more space in these tents than my bedroom at home. I highly recommend.

This was our first accommodation on our honeymoon trip to Tanzania. The location is quite far from the entrance (about a 2.5-hour drive), but we thoroughly enjoyed the ride to the camp. We were fortunate to see many elephants, giraffes, and other wildlife along the way. Upon arriving at the camp, the staff Elieta/Kelvin/Eric were very welcoming and professional. After checking in, we had a hot water shower. The hot water is manually replenished by the staff, and they waited outside to ensure we had enough hot water to wash off the dirt and exhaustion from the journey. The taste of the dinner was definitely beyond our expectations. Before we came to Africa (we're from Singapore), we had some doubts about the food since it was our first time here. However, the food at the camp was amazing. We enjoyed every meal, including the hamper provided for the next two days. We also had a great night's sleep over the two days. Although we did hear animals howling in the middle of the night, we felt safe. Once it got dark, someone would escort us every time we left or returned to the tent to ensure our safety. Last but not least, we had a bonfire set up on the second night, which was the highlight of our camp experience. Two staff members, Kalvin and Eric, safely guarded me and my husband while we enjoyed the bonfire (a big thank you to them!). Overall, we had a wonderful time here and look forward to returning soon. (One small reminder: the tse-tse flies and mosquitoes can be quite annoying since the camp is in the wilderness. Make sure to bring repellant and wear long sleeves and pants throughout your stay.)
