There is a large gate at the entrance, and the inn has a sense of history in the Sukiya-style building. It is very helpful that they provide transportation to Awara Onsen Station. Awara Onsen is not densely packed with inns and hotels, but is scattered around. JR Awara Onsen Station and Echizen Railway Awara Onsen Station are also quite far away. The hot springs and meals at the inn were delicious. It seemed a bit lonely that the staff were only men and Nepalese women, and there was no Japanese staff member among the landlady.

However, when I checked out, it was pouring rain outside and I was going to stay in the lobby area until the rain stopped. I wrote some journal and did some reading quietly. An older gentleman, looks like a manager or supervisor, approached me. He looked at me like very confused, like “”what the hell are you still here””. He asked if I’m going to spend another night here. If not, get the hell out of here. I stayed 1000+ hotels in Japan and this is the very first time I got kicked out. He even watched me very closely until I stepped out of the property which makes me feel extremely uncomfortable. To me, that was not hospitality at all. Instead, he was very rude to me.

It was a relatively cheap inn in Awara City. The inn was spacious and the baths were close by. I had plans to go to an izakaya so I didn't eat dinner at the inn, but it was filling and I wish I had. There were a lot of families there, which may have been because it was summer vacation. There were no foreign guests, so it was quiet. It was conveniently located 10 minutes from Awara Onsen Station, so it was within walking distance of Onsen Yokocho. It was also convenient that there was a Lawson nearby. I arrived late so the parking lot was almost full. I parked at the entrance.

There were games available for free rental (UNO and dominoes) and a small room where you can play the Famicom, which the kids loved. The baths are available 24 hours a day (though there are times when they are replaced), and the facility is clean. Thank you very much.
