Macdonald Spey Valley Resort

Oh man. This place could be amazing. The location is absolutely fantastic but the cabins are so shabby. It’s in desperate need of a full refurb! The master bedroom bed is so small and uncomfortable. On top of that, they have the cheek to charge you for electricity for the week on checkout… and not a nominal amount! We just paid the same as what we pay for a month at home. We won’t be back. We can get a much better house/cabin in aviemore for slightly less, with better beds/bedrooms and bills included. @SpeyValley - you either need to fully return or drop your rates considerably.

We have been staying in the chalets at Dalfaber for over ten years now and they have been refurbished over the years. We had a great stay yet again this year and the chalet was very clean, have everything you need in the kitchen and the beds were super comfortable. The golf courses are immaculate as well. We also took part in the quiz in the clubhouse which was great fun! Food was good in the clubhouse as well. We look forward to returning again next year.

Absolutely Incredible stay. We had a few issues when booking that were more than sorted by the team. We ended up in the lodges which were great. Emily greeted us with exceptional finesse and friendship and apologised as well for the other issues that popped up. We were made to feel special and no one made it awkward which was important. We opted to move our meal booking to the grill on site as the Hotel restaurant was a fair bit away... maybe 2-3 miles. This was all sorted by the excellent Duty Manager Brandon who is arguably the nicest person i have ever come across in the industry. He bent over backwards for us and if any industry awards exist still he needs to be nominated !! He also introduced us to the wonderful Mags and her team who made is welcome and the food was excellent. So much so we decided to go backthere the night after ! As we travelled with 2 young boys they were delighted to see the amazing playpark beside the restaurant and a great selection of games. Breakfast is at the main hotel and was nice but again a bit of a drive over. Be better if breakfast was available at the Spey facility too. The breakfast was nice but id say the need to watch the staff. The coffee was weak and not enough used to make it. And we observed one chap with longer wavy black hair use the cleaning spray on the tables while the sugar was still left on. The spray went all over the sugar.... this is not acceptable and was the only thing I would say needs addressed. Clear the table completely before sanitising lol See you in November 😉

The property is brilliant the only issue was finding the place. There are a lot of hotels with similar names I suggest what three words is put on the address of the booking in point😀

Great couple short stay Another good stay at this resort, this time in a one bedroom Alvie unit. Everything great apart from the bed being double not king. Enjoyed the golf on the doorstep but didn’t use many other facilities this visit.

Property was in a very poor state of repair which was reported to the Reception the following day. Missing cutlery (i.e. only had 1 dinner knife and 3 side plate knives, 2 dinner forks and 2 desert forks). Pillows were lumpy and hard. All the staff would say it would be reported to maintenance tea. The balcony was split and totally unsafe and should have been addressed immediately and it was not/
