The service was very good, the rooms were clean and generally well-equipped. But remember to ask the front desk for disposable utensils, or bring your own

Visited as a family of 3, we stayed in the Aviemore hotel. Some of the reviews mentioned it was dated and unclean but to be fair, while it looks dated outside and the inside was a tad dated, it was fairly clean. I had seen mention of the lift not working for a few months but on our visit it had a brand new lift so has been rectified. The room on the 2nd floor looked like it had a fairly recent bathroom upgrade too. We didn't try any of the on site restaurants but did visit the Indian restaurant on the main street, it was lovely, highly recommend. We used the pool a few times, clean, a tad cold but fine once you were in for a few minutes. - staff at the pool were fantastic from the reception to the life guards Towels are provided at the pool reception free or charge, lockers are free to use, changing room area was clean and warm. Water slide, wave machine, spa and sauna were all working as they should during our visit (seen a few reviews with issues). Nice grounds, plenty on site parking, staff all very friendly. My one one point id add, we checked in at 430pm on sat 26th July. The lady who checked us in was, to put it honestly, rude, unpleasant, uninterested. I generally stay in various budget no frills hotels week in week out with work and Ive never had service like this, when literally all I done was check in! - a french customer a few in front must have received an emergency call to reception from a hospital and was trying to get information from the lady around what time she had taken the call, the lady asked 11, 12, 1, 4? And the receptionist kept saying I've no idea what time, I just took the call, I can't help you, the lady then dashed off in a hurry, receptionist rolled her eyes at the next customer then sighed throughout his check in. I then greeted the receptionist with a bright "good afternoon" and was met with Name? *Worlds largest sigh* Followed by, a piece of paper asked to check, sign and car reg number *sigh* Key, 2nd floor, lifts through that door, breakfast through that door *sigh* Terrible service, and I generally don't complain about the service anywhere! But thankfully was an exception and the rest of the team were fantastic

We had a good stay at the hotel. First impressions of the room were nice, it was spacious and clean (although maybe a little dated). The bed was very comfortable and 2 camp style beds had been set up for my children, which were adequate. Room was serviced as requested when we placed the sign on the door handle that day. Breakfast each day was very good. There was a bit of a queue one morning but we realised we arrived at peak time (9am-10am), so aimed to get there for 8:30am the next mornings and had no problems getting a seat. There were alternative milks on offer which is great. My only suggestion for improvement would be to invest in a bean to cup coffee machine or two. A nice latte in the morning is a luxury I like to indulge in. We ate in Aspects restaurant one evening. Overall we had a good experience, the food was of a good standard. Service could have been better, there was a large party (30+ people on a tour) dining at the same time as us and we felt forgotten about. Plates not cleared away after main course, more drinks not offered etc. I was also surprised to find that when we tried to pay cash we were informed they did not have change. Not that they don’t accept cash, just that they don’t carry change. Sorry but you either don’t accept cash, or if you do then a cash float is necessary! The bar in our hotel was poorly stocked and also didn’t have change… We visited the swimming pool once, the kids liked it. There is a wave pool that comes on periodically and a slide. I used the sauna and steam room first thing one morning, the floor tiles didn’t feel or look very clean and a few were quite wobbly. Could do with a refresh. Soft play was a bonus on site, it was bigger than I was expecting and all included if you were a guest. The mini disco is entertaining for the little ones, the DJ’s do a good job of interacting with the crowd and getting people up and involved. The cinema is huge - I wasn’t expecting that! Great for a rainy day activity.

A very run down and grubby hotel. Our room was also a trek and although a lift to the floor there were steps further round the corridor which was less than ideal with suitcases a baby and a toddler. The room was dirty. Needed a good vacuum and the walls were all marked with spills and scuffs. Long black hairs in the beds and bathroom. Rooms were not serviced even with sign on the door. Breakfast was ok. Gluten free cereal available and toast on request. Children’s activity rooms were fantastic with a wide variety of toys from baby to older kids. Soft play was excellent too but could do with a clean. Kids loved it though. Pool was on the cold side especially for a baby pool. Lady said on reception for pool “towels aren’t much but they’ve been washed at 60.” We didn’t go back to the pool. The Highland Fish Bar at the hotel wasn’t serving food as no chef. We had gone for a swim after checking in and planned to eat here only to find it not serving food. Easily could have advised at check in or have a sign up. The fire alarm went off everyday on our 3 day stay. Wouldn’t return. Better standard at a travelodge,

70er Jahre Stil und ziemlich heruntergekommen, wirkt verlassen, Essen, abends wie Frühstück (zumindest für Reisegruppen) wirklich nicht gut.

A surprisingly basic and tired hotel. It was very warm and the room had no Aircon. We asked for a fan from the front desk and were told they didn’t offer them. We had 2 very uncomfortable nights. The pool was good, however and the staff were generally very nice. For what it cost for a short family break, the accommodation didn’t deliver. I’m afraid we won’t return.

Positives - staff very nice and lots to entertain kids. Reality- however, while this hotel may have once been a 4 star resort it’s in real need of investment. Rooms, play parks and buildings very tired.
