Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center

This is a fabulous hotel that is attached to the Convention Center. I spent four months at this hotel on business and that allowed me time to interact with the staff - on occasion needing to juggle reservation dates when an assignment took me to another city for a few days. I had the opportunity to experience the team's professional manner on several occasions. The managers, Fred Smith and Jamie Allen, worked to accommodate every change I needed in reservation dates (which relieved a great deal of my stress). It is obvious that this entire team understands customer service and they deliver. Nicholas Young, Aaron Doran, and Diamond Hicks at the front desk, as well as the bellmen- June, Willie and Clinton were great. The housekeeping team was very attentive. The restaurant team was also very accommodating and the food was great. I will write a separate review for Augustino's.

Still one of the better options in Augusta, the Marriott Convention Center is showing its age and needs some TLC. Simply slapping paint on the walls is not enough. Elevators have been inop for months at a time impacting the easily move through the facility. Rooms are large and technology in rooms are adequate. It always surprises me how the hotel is ok with placing a small television in the room when the room is large. Only concern I had duri gthis stay was the AC was not working well and even with asking for support twice nothing was done. Augusta gets warm and humid, being able to sleep comfortablely is important and for two nights I tossed and turned.

Typical hotel these days unfortunately. My number one desire in a hotel room is a clean, quiet place to rest. I really don’t care about all the “amenities” if that first need isn’t met. Room needed some TLC. As usual, A/C was a joke. Set at 64, was actually probably 72. Room had weird double doors that rattled really loudly any time another door on my floor was closed. Shower leaked, as most seem to do. Door frame to bathroom was seriously rotted as a result. Very low water pressure to sink. Shower wasn’t cold but no matter how hot you turned it, would always settle in to previous temp. Navigating my way to the room was difficult. Found an unmanned “satellite” check-in desk in my wandering. Dialed the phone for help and was connected to a virtual assistant that couldn’t comprehend what I was asking. Thankfully, a hotel employee appeared and walked me through the convention center and got me on the right elevator. It was early so I forgot to get his name.

First, let me say the hotel is incredible. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. However, for the price I paid for a room on a Thursday, I expected a little more. The room was tiny, the floor had stains...when I got off the elevator and entered the room, I felt like I walked out of a grand hotel and entered a Motel 6. Certainly not worth the price I paid for one night. I'd go back for dinner, but I would stay somewhere else.

Really convenient location. Nice gym area.
