I opened the latch to the wrought-iron gate (covered in Ivy) and the most beautiful welcoming birds fluttered around me along the walkway. They were just so beautiful! I'm not sure what kind of birds they were. It was as though they actually saw *me* and they were happy that I was there and they were welcoming me. This house was built in 1892. The current owners of the house include a woman who is 93 years old, and the furniture in the room where I stayed (the Aviary room) was handed down to her. I tried to take a few pics to capture the amazing beauty of this home, but it is truly something that should be experienced. This was the most beautiful old house I have ever seen. I sat in a slide chair on the front porch with my coffee at 7:00 a.m. this morning, just soaking in the Georgia summer sunshine. I simply want to take this house with me wherever I go, for the rest of my life. I think I will.

Well, it was the name that grabbed our attention initially, but after spending three nights at Sugar magnolia, it was the people we met that made our stay memorable. Oh sure the morning meals are superb but the cook/server put it over the top. Oh sure, settling in for an afternoon read in the parlor is refreshing, but talking to the owner’s mother as she stocks the ice bucket makes it a treat. Sure, a quaint yard and garden brings piece, but talking to the owner about how all that came about puts the cherry on top. Then there is the B&B itself….lovely, picturesque and renovated for comfort is all I can say.

I received a welcome message from the Innkeeper, Kathryn, before boarding my flight down to Atlanta. She provided me with some basic instructions that I would need upon my arrival and concluded her note asking if I had any dietary restrictions or was a coffee or tea girl. It is small details like that, which make all the difference. The following day, she single-handedly prepared breakfast for 7 guests (including me), and somehow managed to keep the flow of conversation going with all of us. Kathryn was readily available and very responsive via text messaging and just so sweet. I will most definitely be going back, if only to chat with Kathryn. She is a gem and made my stay at this historic lovely B&B, all the better.

Beautiful B&B. We stayed in the Royal Suite - sizable and comfortable. The bathroom has a double vanity, jetted tub, and a large shower. The bed is in a peaked alcove - we are both short (<5'6") so headroom wasn't an issue, but tall folks might opt for another room. The location is only a couple of blocks from the Krog Street Market & perhaps four from the MARTA station. The innkeeper, Kathryn, was delightful - warm and helpful with suggestions about the area.

Loveliest people own and operate this historic property, we were treated like family! Delicious breakfast in the gracious dining room, we were seated with a really interesting couple from San Diego. Gre location Inman Park, we love walking the neighborhood and had half hour walk to the Kirkwood neighborhood.

What a wonderful place to stay, really a home away from home in the heart of Atlanta. Quiet neighborhood full of beautiful homes, easy access to downtown attractions, our room was comfortable and exceeded all expectation’s. Kathryn, (Chef, hospitality, friend now, tour guide…) is a star. She contacted us in advance of arrival to arrange breakfast. She is so personable, still allowing private space when needed. Just a perfect host. Debi, owner, greeted us as well and told us some unique experiences staying in her home. Entertaining and again, just the perfect southern charm you would expect, but don’t always receive. You receive it here at Sugar Magnolia. Our only regret is that we have been coming to atlanta for over a decade and didn’t stay here sooner! This is our “ go to” place from now on.

So many things to love about this place! The beautiful neighborhood, the lovingly restored house, the central location, the wonderful breakfasts, the 24hr-honor bar (!), and all the little details that we kept discovering throughout our stay. And of course, Kathryn, the genial and super helpful housekeeper. Extra credit for mailing a forgotten watch back to us. That was a relief!

Our five night stay at Sugar Magnolia, a beautifully restored home in the historic Inman Park district of Atlanta, was brilliant from start to finish. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by Debi, the owner, shown our immaculately decorated room, the free fridge for beers and sodas and the lounge with ! an honour bar and a grand piano. Every day we had delicious, beautifully presented, well-balanced breakfasts, different each day and which set us up for the day. We also enjoyed sharing travel stories with other guests over the breakfast table. Debi was concerned that we were comfortable and well fed, was full of useful information and stories and interested in our plans for the day. We will certainly stay there again when we visit family in Atlanta. Highly recommended!
