Osiligilai Lodge is absolutely gorgeous and the people there led by the William the Manager/owner are all authentic Maasai, and are really wonderful. William is a charming gentleman who loves his Maasai tribe and is trying hard to empower them through employment at the lodge, opportunities for business with the guests and also supports education initiatives for the local girls. We did not have a dull moment! There were interesting activities planned for the two days that we stayed in this tribal paradise. We hiked to the village, visited the local school, donkey rides, participated in the local dances, watched the Maasai women milk cows and goats…. They were all well planned and interesting, giving us insight into the Maasai culture. The food was excellent and I have to thank the kitchen staff for accommodating our dietary restrictions and keeping the food so delicious. The rooms were comfortable but unlike any of the other places that we stayed in during the safari. The surreal view of sunrise over the majestic Kilimanjaro right from our room was jaw dropping. I have been to many places in Tanzania and I can confidently say that visit to Osiligilai Maasai Lodge was worth our time and dimes. It really time and money well spent!
