Brit Hotel Arras

This was a strange place to arrive late at night. I can’t really criticise too much as I’d deliberately chosen a cheap option because we were arriving late and leaving early and all we needed was somewhere to put our heads for the night. What’s more, I’d left booking very late and had only booked the day before. On the plus side it was cheap and it had free, on-site car-parking. However, it was oddly deserted. On arrival, there was no-one around and we let ourselves in with a code. The check-in counter was empty and a large metal grille was pulled down to secure the lobby. It was eerily deserted as we made our way upstairs through empty, somewhat shabby corridors. We didn’t see another person until the next day. It was all a little grim and unnerving. My hopes weren’t high but when we opened the door to our room, we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was a lot better than expected. The room was fine. It had an attractive decor. The bathroom was clean and fairly modern (although toiletries were provided in those big pump dispensers on the wall). There was a desk and coffee machine and space for our bags. It’s worth noting that the hotel is on the outskirts of town in a light industrial estate location. There were no nearby facilities or restaurants (at least none that were open). If you want to go into Arras to eat, you’ll have to drive but it’s only a very short drive. In the end, you get what you pay for but overall, it did the job.

Lovely little hotel bit difficult to find as tucked away behind the Renault dealer and Google Maps tries to take you via a road that doesn't exist. Staff friendly and the rooms were clean. The only downside was that there were no coffee facilities in the room and the main seating area in reception closed at 9pm when the staff leave so nowhere to sit and chat etc.
