No itemized receipt. The hotel just charges whatever they want and you have no idea for what. Cash less amenities bar, anyone can charge to any room without verification. Pretty sure unless there's a $120 charge for nothing, I paid for someone else's stuff.

Not bad, overall appropriate service and nice environment.

The beds are double beds. If that is important to you please note. We did not realize this and it was tight for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids ages 14 and 9). Kids ended up sleeping on the pullout couch. The layout was typical of any Embassy. It was very humid/musty in the room and did not get super cool. The layout was good as expected. Breakfast was ok, I have seen it better at other Embassy suites, but the staff working it were sooo nice! We had all that we needed for our stay. The pool was fine and clean. It got super busy and very loud so our kids were not able to use it much. We did use the shuttle to go to the ballgame and while it was a little slow, the driver was nice. We ended up walking back. Overall it was a fine hotel. I thought the pricing was a bit steep for what we got, but the location probably inflated that.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I will never stay at this hotel again. I am a 58 year old baseball coach staying there for a tournament in Des Moines. I will be spreading the word in Omaha around the baseball and softball organizations about the absolutely horrible experience we had. The two men that were working that night, one being the night manage, were less than welcoming and be honest could have handled the situation much differently. We were having a drink that we brought with us at the only place available to do it, on the patio. It was all adults just talking, trying to relax. We were told to take our drinks to our room. While all day long a very large wedding was carrying around opened busch light bottles I saw them take out of a cooler they brought. I guess the more you spend the more the rules change. Unacceptable. I will be using this review on every social media site I can find on your location. This past week end, we played in a tournament in Kansas City. We did the same thing we attempted at your location and not 1 word was said to us. We enjoyed ourselves and able to relax. They will be getting a outstanding rating unlike you. If you ask me I would recommend finding some friendly and fair employees to help your guest enjoy their stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Downtown Des Moines. The hotel itself was excellent—very clean, well-maintained, and staffed with friendly, attentive service. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a modern and well-designed bathroom. The shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water, though the showerhead could have used a cleaning as it appeared partially clogged. The hotel bar was a nice bonus—strong, well-made drinks and decent food made it a great spot to unwind. One of the best perks of this location is how walkable it is. You’re within easy walking distance of several great restaurants, bars, and shops, and it’s especially convenient if you’re in town for the Des Moines Farmers Market when it’s in season. The only real downside was the parking situation. While the hotel offers self-parking for $30/day, it’s a bit frustrating. The small surface lot holds about 20 cars, and the underground garage—while larger—is incredibly tight. The layout is awkward, with many spaces blocked by concrete pillars and a dead-end row that’s nearly impossible to back out of if the garage is full. Unless you’re driving a compact car, parking can be a real challenge. Overall, we’d definitely stay again for the quality and convenience—just be prepared for tight parking or consider alternate transportation options.

Wifi didn’t work, tried to use cordless phone in room to get front desk, it had no power, had to call number for hotel online and got an AI Bot that gave me the front desk to get wifi working. Parking onsite is very cramped despite $30 per day charge.
