Arctic Fox Inn

Anchorage is an expensive place and the Arctic Fox Inn represents good value for money and a good level of comfort with plenty of room. A clean and well-maintained property, we had Apt. 5 which was well appointed and spacious (though the sofa does need replacing and the mattress is getting on a bit too). There is some noise from outside activity but really not enough to stop you getting sleep and the area appears down-at-heel but certainly NOT dangerous. An easy 15-20 mins from the train station and the centre of town, this place is well located and is better than some of the nearby hotels. There is no breakfast offered anymore (in keeping with most places in North America) and whilst the remote check in is efficient, there is no easy way to communicate with the owners. We had a problem with our lock (our fault, we were too quick in pushing the door rather than waiting for 30 seconds for the mechanism to automatically unlock) when I phoned the emergency number, I was put through to voice mail giving me another number to phone - unfortunately, I had no pen and paper ready. When I phoned again, there was no reply. E-mail requests went unanswered too. This could cause a problem. Still, we enjoyed our stay here and would certainly recommend it over nearby hotels.

Safety Concerns: Regrettably, the property is situated in an unsafe area. As a guest, safety is paramount, and this aspect requires immediate attention. Inaccurate Information and Uncomfortable Conditions: Furthermore, the property information and photos provided on ******* do not align with the actual conditions. The living area is notably small, the sofa bed appears old and unclean, and the beds are uncomfortable. These discrepancies impact the overall quality of the stay.

This B & B has some issues. I did not realize when I booked it that it would be a completely remote check in. Seemed like only housekeepers were round. The stairway up one floor to the 9 guest rooms was incredibly narrow. I was traveling 2 weeks and my bag barely fit. You enter through a kitchen/dining area and realize that, as noted elsewhere, breakfast would be basic coffee/tea, oatmeal, bagels and apples/bananas. I did not partake in breakfast. The room was an adequate size and the bathroom was clean/updated. The mattress was soft but not super soft. I agree with others that the TV was difficult to work. What really disturbed me were the room hollow doors seemingly purchased at a large box hardware store. You could hear the slightest noise outside in the hall. Their thinness, combined with the remote entry/lack of onsite staff, does not make one feel secure. Especially when, again noted previously, this is not in the best of neighborhoods. AFI can not control the houseless in the blocks around them but it is not at all a comforting feeling to walk by it to get to the B & B.

We loved our nest at the Arctic Fox for the time we stayed there . Comfortable, clean , friendly, light and a beautiful view . We loved the space, opportunity to prepare meals and socialize. Bedroom and bed comfortable and made us sleep well. We recommend Apt 5 of the Artic Fox !

It was my favorite place to stay while visiting Alaska. It was easy to book, and I really, really appreciated the remote check in- it was so easy and convenient!! The atmosphere here was so comfy, homey, and relaxing. It was also walking distance to some shopping and restaurants. I would absolutely stay here again.

Luxury towels, comfortable bed, thick floor rug, spacious unit with kitchen and large bathroom. Space available for parking if you rent a car. I used uber to arrive. The area is walkable. Close to restaurants and tour attractions. I felt safe here and the area. I slept very well and would recommend this place to solo or couples. Pick up drinks and food on your way because there is a spacious kitchen with equipment to cook and clean.

I agree with the previous reviews. The room was clean, nice bathroom and parking available. Train did not keep me up but I use ear plugs. The immediate neighborhood is a bit seedy. We had a car so we were able to get to a restaurant. Breakfast was indeed a brown paper bag with prepackaged and sandwich bags of food from Costco. The room price is the same without a nice usual B&B breakfast. Can't recommend this place and won’t be back, too many better choices.

While the apartment was clean, the grounds are run down. There were many homeless and street people in close proximity, as the B&B is close to a mission. B&B is really a misnomer, as our breakfast was delivered the evening before in a brown paper bag. It included an assortment of cold, ready to eat, and prepackaged items. I would grade it a C-. It is walkable to the train station, but it is a longer walk than we anticipated. The room is not a good value by world standards.

Stayed here for a few nights last week. The positives: room was clean, nice bathroom and parking available. The bad: next to train tracks so If you want to sleep, good luck with that, trains pass all the time with their horns blasting, area does not feel safe, next to soup kitchen and many homeless sleeping around the area on the sidewalks. I didn’t feel safe to walk there at night and we took Ubers. The rooms do not have any usb outlets to charge your devices, the tv only comes with a roku system so it’s a pain to watch and there’s no way you want to log into your private Amazon or Netflix account here. We just watched on our phone/iPad via our phone provider. They say they serve an “enhanced “ continental breakfast, they actually give you a little brown paper bag with crap in it that you need to get out of the fridge in the morning. The room price is the same without a nice usual B&B breakfast. Better off at a hotel and hit IHOP! To top it off, the walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbors snoring all night long!! Ugh! We wouldn’t recommend this place and won’t be back, too many other choices with better quieter locations.
