Bird Creek Motel

We chose to stay at this “Mom & Pop” style motel based on other reviews, price, and photos we saw online. We had left Valdez that morning and wanted an overnight stay on our way to Homer. Additionally, we wanted to ride the Alyeska Aerial Tram before we went on to Homer. Bird Creek Motel was a cute, quiet, and clean motel. It was close to Mt. Alyeska, but not as large, costly, and ritzy as Alyeska Resort. We hated to, but when we arrived at Bird Creek Motel, it was a bit before check in time. The owner graciously allowed us to check in early and only asked for a few minutes to put more clean towels on our room. There was a small gas station/convenience store across the street, so we went there and grabbed some snacks while waiting. This motel was not in a city setting and we liked that for a one night stay. The grounds were adorable! Flower lovers will find lots of hanging baskets, planter boxes, blooming bushes, and more. Upon entering the room, it seemed to appear more cozy like a home than a motel room. Yes, it was clearly a motel room, but the beds, bedding, and the room itself felt like you were in a guest room at a friend’s house, except you had your own bathroom, coffee pot, refrigerator, and microwave. My mother and I walked around the property, enjoying the flowers and the family cat named Ash; what a sweet kitty! Dad stayed in the room to watch television and complained to me he could only find 4 channels; probably operator error, but personally, I don’t go on vacation to watch television/the news, I’m enjoying escaping it. Again, our room was clean, quiet, cozy, and had very comfortable beds. We enjoyed our stay! This place also has an RV park, but it was very small and very quiet.

Staff first night refused to give door code after giving wrong door code . Bedding smelled like mildew and mouse urine. Parking lot was muddy and full of pot holes. Gave us correct door code next day. Room could have been clean. We didnt stay the second night. Just poor customer service. Plumbing ba ged and rattled every time you used itholesmuddy and 100 pot holes
