MRS. Bhandari's Guesthouse

We had a wonderful stay here. The staff were friendly and attentive- we felt very much part of the family. The food was delicious - home cooked. This is where to stay if you’re looking for an authentic experience - not an anonymous hotel chain.

We loved our stay at Mrs Bandari’s guesthouse. Our rooms was huge and very comfortable, the food was excellent and the staff made for a fantastic stay - they were friendly and full of advice and recommendations for our stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Amritsar.

We didn’t actually stay but a friend did - we visited for the afternoon and could not have been welcomed and treated better. Masala tea and toasties were amazing. Mrs Bhandari is a wonderful woman.

This was my second visit in two years to the guest house. This time as a group of eight people and the guest house welcomed us and hosted us brilliantly. Mrs B’s guesthouse is all about quintessential charm and traditional hospitality. The current Mrs B is the founder’s daughter and runs the place like a family home. Some of the staff have worked there for over 40 years. Make sure you embellish your visits to the Golden Temple, the Partition Museum, the Waga border ceremony with anecdotes and stories from Mrs B. It will provide you with an insight that no travel guide ever could. The rooms now boast tea and coffee making facilities and some rooms now have air conditioning for the hottest months. We visited in Spring this time and the garden was ablaze with colour. The food. The food!!! Don’t eat anywhere else and I challenge you to find a better Masala omelette anywhere in the Punjab. Everything can be arranged from here - car transportation, tuk-tuk, rickshaw, Tonga. Stop looking, you’ve found your home in Amritsar

This is a no brainer if you’re in amritsar. Definitely go - and prepare to be treated like family. Its not a traditional hotel, but the charm and history will make you feel right at the epicenter of the city’s rich history. Don’t forget to try the freshly prepared food from the garden, and to sample the buffalo ghee!

We stayed for a night following a wedding whilst waiting for our flight, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, organising an early pick up for us and took us to see a new calf which had just been born. Our only negative would be that the lunch was expensive and compared to everywhere else in India we felt overcharged.
