Le Pavillon des Lys - Hôtel Particulier

What a wonderful hotel this really is. Only our second visit unfortunately…we use it as a staging post for roadtripping. And what a lovely stepping stone it is. Amboise is beautiful, and this lovely old building, tastefully decorated and furnished certainly fits in. Wonderful welcome from the staff and owner. Lovely clean room and finally…we don’t usually take breakfast but here, a simple French breakfast with great coffee, stunning juice and tasty meats, cheese and of course breads and pastry’s is a must. Thank you once again, we hope to return soon.

I am going to rate room 16. I selected it from the pictures wrongly assuming that it had access to the courtyard AND ANOTHER DOOR TO THE MAIN BUILDING which takes away from the experience. This bedroom is at best three stars (not 4) and does not compare to the bedrooms inside the main building. Smells bad, They have an issue with humidity. No windows, the sources of natural light are a glass access door and a skylight that they opened in the ceiling probably because they needed it for code. I would recommend you to stay away from this room. It looks a lot better in their photo.

What a charming hotel in the center of Amboise. The room was lovely and big (chambre deluxe) in a small annex just off of the main building. (We had a surprise upgrade.) The shower was fantastic, walk in with a rain shower and those extra side massage type shower heads. Parking is free and secure. You can walk everywhere from the hotel, it's a great location for exploring the Loire Valley. Service was lovely, and breakfast was a good continental selection in the beautiful old salon in the main house.

The Hotel Le Pavillon Des Lys committed fraud against my wife and I, and when I asked for our stolen money to be returned, the hotel manager accused me of blackmail and claimed that I routinely stayed at hotels without payments. Such statements are dishonest lies. My wife and I traveled to the Loire Valley in France with a tour operator who committed heinous crimes against us. That operator stole more than $29,500 from us and illegally threatened to have me jailed if I did not pay another $5000. This attempted extortion and jail threat occurred in the lobby of the Hotel Le Pavillon Des Lys. Although Luxury Tours France (Riverloire Loire - Valley Day Tours) was the lead criminal in these extensive frauds, the Hotel Le Pavillon Des Lys committed further crimes against my wife and I. Since my wife and I were suddenly without a place to stay in a foreign country, we then double-paid to stay at this hotel. The hotel had contracted with the tour operator, and I previously had not been allowed to contract directly with the hotel. Since the contract was originally between the hotel and the tour operator, and I had paid twice for the same stay, I asked the hotel to return our money. The hotel refusal to pay back this money constituted theft. When I asked the hotel to return the stolen money, the hotel manager accused me of blackmailing him, and stated that I was a manipulating specialist who refused to pay hotel bills. That is, he accused me of theft. This libelous statement is a blatant lie. I have paid every hotel bill for every hotel stay in my life, where I have traveled four to ten weeks a year for nearly twenty years. There was no blackmail, which was proven by the fact that an FBI (Consumer Fraud Protection Bureau) investigation resulted in the return of this money stolen by the hotel ($1018) to my wife and I, and this lack of blackmail was further proven by the return of more than $23,000 from the tour operator. FBI reports, bank records, and internet OpEds that I wrote thoroughly document these crimes. Copies of these reports and Op Eds were sent to the Hotel Le Pavillon Des Lys and the Content Integrity department of TripAdvisor. Tripadvisor had blocked my trip review publications, and when these documents were provided, TripAdvisor allowed me to publish trip reviews.
