Albergo l'Antico Convitto

If you’re considering L’Antico Convitto based on its location or other positive reviews, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. My four night stay here was a nightmare, and the most important thing you need to know is I got food poisoning from their breakfast. I spent two days violently ill because of their gross negligence and disgusting food handling practices. From the start, the place smelled like mold, an overpowering dampness in the halls that never went away. The hotel is hidden down a narrow alleyway off a noisy main street, and once inside, it doesn’t get better. It’s on the third floor of a building that feels anything but secure. The front desk staff were mostly unhelpful, except for one woman who clearly cared more than the rest. Still, that wasn’t enough to save the experience. My room was tiny, the view was depressing, there was a huge crack in the wall, the shower handle kept falling off (and never got fixed despite being reported), and the AC was so loud I could barely sleep. But the real horror was the breakfast. Every plate and tray was dirty. The food looked and tasted stale, with cheese sweating in the heat, greasy bacon and eggs, and hard boiled eggs that were cracked, filthy, and repeatedly put back out day after day. I saw the same cracked eggs come out again, proof they recycle food instead of throwing it away. The only thing I ate that my partner didn’t was the ham, and that’s what landed me sick in bed for days. The kitchen staff couldn’t have cared less, and their disregard for even basic hygiene is shocking. After getting sick, we only ate bread (because that was all we could trust). Breakfast at this hotel is genuinely unsafe. Don’t trust the positive reviews. This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. There are plenty of better, safer options in Amalfi, stay far away.

Very nice place to stay in Amalfi - Gabriella received us and gave very good local information. The breakfast was nice and plentiful. We recommend it!

Wonderful stay Beautiful, quaint, boutique hotel in the heart of Amalfi. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good and the terrace seating on the roof is lovely. Would definitely stay here again.

Francesca was a pleasure as our hostess. The hotel was perfectly located for us while we explored Amalfi. It is comfortable, clean and quiet. The included breakfast was delicious.

Excellent property and great staff. Looked after every need we had. Very friendly. Rice was a bit higher than we expected but we were still good because of the value we had with everything else.

This hidden gem is a lovely hotel, with friendly staff that would go out of their way to help out. Rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean. Google map how to find the entryway before arriving, as it is not easily visible. Would stay here again if I’m back in the area.
