Pestana Alvor Praia Premium Beach & Golf Resort

Hotel was amazing, in a great location with great views. Access (via lift) to the beach was great too. Our room (162) was spacious and comfortable with a plunge pool, so we had a choice of just chilling either by the main pool and bar or just chilling on our own garden area and little pool. Food was delicious with plenty of choice both at breakfast and dinner. Pancakes and waffles as well as omelettes made for you was a real treat! There were different themes for dinner and our favourite was the Italian evening and “Made in Portugal” evening - really enjoyed the “Algarvian Cataplana”. Staff were friendly and helpful, great customer service overall. It was just what we needed for a relaxing time away!

First time visiting Portugal and booked this hotel and we weren’t disappointed. We had 2 rooms - sea view and garden view and both were brilliant. Very clean, lovely balcony’s and views. The garden view was room 208 and would highly recommend requesting if you also like sun loungers on your balcony area. We didn’t request his but got allocated this room and it was brilliant. Not many of these rooms so worth requesting if this is something you want. Pool area was very clean, and no need for the great sunbed dash first thing in the morning. People had put towels out when we were going for breakfast around 8.30am but still plenty to go round. There is a lift that takes you from the pool to the beach which is great and less than 5mins from the hotel, there are some amazing views Buffet breakfast was a delight for us all and plenty of options catering for all needs. Nice surprise to see there was a made to order omelette bar there for breakfast. The only negatives to our stay were the hotel adds service charge on to all bills even if just ordering a slushie and ice cream. It’s automatically added and you don’t realise until you have paid and got the receipt. The other negative was that there was a wedding on during our stay that went on late into the evening with the reception. Appreciate the hotel makes money on these events but having paid a premium for a sea view, I was right above the event and the noise was so loud it sounded as if I was in a nightclub whilst lying in my bed. Having booked a quiet resort, I was not expecting such noise and late into the night. Wasn’t able to use the balcony all evening due to this event.

A beautiful, calm and relaxing hotel in a superb location. The hotel facilities and rooms were very good. The breakfast was excellent with a pianist playing beautifully in the background each morning. The outdoor pool was large with plenty of sun loungers in and out of the shade. Plus the indoor pool with indoor sun loungers was handy when we’d had enough sun. The hotel is right on the beach, there is a lift down to beach level and it’s all very accessible. It’s a beautiful beach surrounded by cliffs. From the beach, we walked along the “Boardwalk” (a decking footpath) into the centre of Alvor every evening for dinner and then took an Uber home. In July, Alvor centre was very lively, with lots of good restaurants which was fun but also nice to enjoy the quiet and calm of the hotel. Staff in the hotel were very helpful and there were always plenty of staff around. I would also recommend the JetSkiing which was just a couple of minutes walk along the beach.
