Tivoli Alvor Algarve - All Inclusive Resort

We have just arrived home from an enjoyable holiday myself my wife and our two children aged six and two. We stayed during the second week of the six weeks holidays it was the busiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Some immediate changes I would make straight away.. Move the 6pm (which is poorly attended as children are still in the pool) to 8.30pm. The entertainment starts at 9.30pm which is to late, most of the children it is aimed at have gone to bed or fell asleep by this time. Sunbeds, during our seven days we couldn't get a sunbed for four whole days £5000 a week to lie on a towel on some grass. Instead have a member of staff go around the pool leaving a laminated sheet saying if you don't return within 30 minutes your towels will be removed on empty sunbeds. We joined the game for the last three days getting up at 7am to leave towels on loungers we only used after midday. Have fridges with sealed ice creams In dotted around the pools, going to a restaurant to make your own ice cream cone which melts before you arrive back at the pool is not great. A proper bar not just an ice bucket with a carton of apple juice in at the kids pool and a toilet. Parents leaving their children to walk to the bar to get a lemonade or running with children to the toilet is not ideal. We enjoyed our holiday all the staff we encountered were pleasant, the hotel is clean and the rooms modern. The food in the main restaurant was very typical all inclusive mass catered for menu lots of choice. We managed to book the Mad Mes and the Italian restaurant which were both a nice change from the canteen (as we nicknamed it) The hotel is vast and daunting when you arrive but you soon get used to it. We probably wouldn't stay again due to the fact there is nothing around the hotel. We got the hotel train to Alvor but we had covered it all in an hour so headed back.

Strange one came back again after couple of years as love Alvor! Positive’s. -Staff really nice. -Drinks good. -Had a better room this time. -Roustic & Italian restaurant really good. Negatives. -Buffet just a free for all food quality not great unless you like Pork! -Breakfast don’t do Omelettes anymore. -Mad Mex strange restaurant no identify & food not great. -Entertainment poor but try hard. -Saltys now closes at 6.30pm not 11.00pm as previously this makes the queues unbearable on the evening for drinks. -Geared up more for Premium now. -To the plank that said F off to the man in the pool for no reason in front of the entertainment team that did nothing about it should be ashamed of himself when kids playing Water Polo!!!!! -5 star hotel get up at 6.30 in the morning to get subbeds when adult pool has loads! Manager sorted it out the 2nd week was a lot better. For value for money it’s ok but not 5 star.

Pros: The hotel was clean and everything was new. Cleaners came in everyday. The food at the sit down restaurants was good. The pools were clean and a good temperature. The beach and caves nearby are beautiful. Beds were very comfy and the hotel was quiet at night time. There is a little train that runs from the hotel into the resort for free. Cons: We were told more than once that my partner could not order four drinks after queueing for 20 minutes at the bar. We wanted two beers and two soft drinks for the kids. They said it was a max of 2 drinks per person so were expecting him to queue up for another 20 mins to get two more drinks. After arguing, they gave in. This happened more than once. Shouldn’t need to argue each time you want a drink. Sun beds were hard to come by. After day three, we joined people in getting up early and reserving them. The food in the main buffet was repetitive and they didn’t do any theme nights as other AI do. It’s annoying paying AI prices and then not being able to access certain restaurants and drinks because we didn’t want to pay more for a premium band. Family room was very small and had ants on the floor. Could drink the drinks all night and not be tipsy. Not very strong at all.
