The gold bubble was a fantastic place to stay. I was a little worried traveling by myself to Sri Lanka for the first time but the staff at Gold Bubble put me at ease. Upon arrival, I was given one of the staff's what's app numbers, and was able to text any time with any questions I had. They were very attentive and always asked what I was up to for the day. It felt like having 2 brothers help me out on my trip. They served a lovely breakfast every day with fresh fruit, toast, an egg and coffee. Gold Bubble is a comfortable hotel with a 5 star staff. I felt comfortable, it was clean, and I felt safe during my stay. I would book again next time. The environment is first-class, it is a good place for a vacation, and the staff are very friendly and enthusiastic! We used the taxi app Pick Me to take a taxi in Galle, and then took the bus to Mirissa. In fact, as long as it is not the rush hour, the conditions of their buses are passable. Much cleaner than India, maybe there will be surprises

Writing this with great a disappointment being a Sri Lankan to inform you how South lake Resort Koggala handled my (confirmed) reservation. This is property is utterly disorganized property, full of highly unprofessional occupied and staff with Zero communication skills and Zero training in business ethics, and last but not least how greedy they are for money. I say this because, South Lake Resort cancelled my confirmed reservation with less than 24 hrs prior to arrival. Incident in brief, For my 21st B day celebrations photo shoot, I contacted the hotel reservations on the 25thNovember , the person Bhagya(lady) took my order and confirmed the room reservation for the 2nd Dec. I requested Bhagya to send me the confirmation in writing, which she agreed to do so. But until 30th Nov, no response from South Lake. Bhagya, she is not answering or responding to my calls or even had the courtesy to call back for the call she missed. Eventually I dropped a mail to the common reservation mail id on the 30thhoping the someone from reservations would send the confirmation. On the 1st December noon I get a call from a person called Dilshan, saying that he had to cancel my reservation due to a Australian tour group is arriving and they needed more rooms. therefore, hotel decided to cancel mine and give them my rooms to accommodate their guests. When I questioned Dilshan about this, all Dilshan had to tell me was Bhagya had never communicated this with their team and she is missing from the time she took my reservation and had not come to work every since and even the hotel staff cant contact her to inquire about my reservation.(In writing he sent me) Eventually Dilshan wished me luck ,like he did me favor by cancelling the reservation, and hung up. I was totally helpless in the last minute. So this is South Lake for you, South Lake is not up to the standard as per the Star ratings they advertise everywhere. Their staff are not trained at all, this property is in great greed for money, so whatever happens to the individual guests they don’t care. As long as they can earn more, they will not hesitate to cancel any individually booking s at their Specially If you’re a Sri Lankan, they will not even inform you in advance, they will let you find out that your dooms when you arrive at their reception. Star class standard hospitality South Lake, well done. Neither I will recommend this hotel or ever step in for any reason or won’t let any one book this property ever again.

We stayed at Villa Mayurana in March 2020, during the last days before the coronavirus quarantine. Therefore we had the whole place to ourselves, which was a privilege. I have to say that after I made the bookings they just wouldn't answer the questions in my emails. There was also a mistake on the hotel's part concerning the bank charge, since we sent our payment via bank transfer. So I was initially rather sceptical. However, once we arrived the helpful and friendly manager sorted things out immediately. That was the end of our minor problems and that was when the magic began. What can I say? This is one of the most perfect places I have ever stayed at - and I have traveled a lot around the world! The location is simply breathtaking, with endless panoramic views over vast tropical jungle, all the way down to the ocean. Straight out of a story book! The villa itself, in colonial style, surrounded by cool verandas, is the epitome of style and tropical chic, combined with the romantic feel of old-time Sri Lanka. It is full of beautiful pieces of art, from the fantastic handmade persian carpet in the living room to beautiful colonial-style furniture that are true collector items. This is a place of true character and incredible atmosphere. The sense of peace is mesmerising: All you can hear is the sound of birds. Tropical trees with beautiful flowers are everywhere. Peacocks visit regularly the immaculate gardens and even fly up to the roof. The highlight of course is the big swimming pool, with crystal clear water and the most sensational views one can imagine. I cannot think of a more perfect location for a swimming pool. Pure bliss! The suites (we had the red and orange suites) are spacious, deliciously cool, tasteful, with extremely comfortable beds and really great bathrooms. The food is absolutely first class with the freshest ingredients: We had fantastic fresh tuna and one of the most elaborate Sri Lankan curries with at least seven different dishes. But even more ordinary stuff like pasta with seafood was great, as was breakfast with a great selection to choose from. Last but not least, the staff are immensely kind, polite and helpful. One feels more like a guest in an aristocratic home. The real feel of the grand old days of travel! Definitely not the impersonal style of resorts. Congratulatins to Villa Mayurana!
