We've just got back from a week's stay at this hotel. Some good points but also some bad points. The main negative was the service in the buffet restaurants. I don't know if the hotel is short staffed with the refurbishment coming up but the waiting staff were rushing around and no one seemed to be in charge to coordinate their efforts. Waiting staff were often on their phones or chatting to each other rather than attending the tables. Service was inconsistent. One morning we were given our hot drinks but no milk. I went to the buffet area where there were loads of staff floating around. Someone asked me if I wanted help and I asked for milk - the container was empty so he disappeared off, someone else asked me the same question and he disappeared off!! He eventually reappeared with a jug of milk for me but no one was doing anything about refilling the milk container. My husband had a similar experience with a spoon!! The cutlery containers were empty, but the staff member brought just one spoon rather than replenishing for others. There was a lovely lady at breakfast who was always friendly and she used to have our drinks set up for us prior to our getting the restaurant. Another thing which isn't important in the scheme of things but the only sliced bread was one loaf which was cut very thickly - it was nice but sometimes you just want normal bread for toasting. Me and my husband have never worked in hospitality but we sat there many a time discussing how we would do things differently. The French holidaymakers definitely got preferential treatment!! Their tables at lunch and dinner would be ”reserved”, had wine on them and the waiters were always topping up their drinks. One evening, we waited for about 10 minutes to get our glasses topped up but the staff either came no where near us or ignored our attempts to get their attention. It was only after my husband went himself to get a bottle of wine to bring back to the table, did the staff seem interested. It was similar around the pool. The service was inconsistent and it seemed you got better service only if you tipped or were French! Again there was a very nice lady at the upper pool bar and kept a good flow of drinks coming our way. We didn't like the fact there was only one place to go for lunch. We didn't like to eat inside the lunch restaurant as it felt very 'canteeny'. It was much better eating outside but lots of these tables had already been reserved for their favourites by the time we arrived. It's a shame there wasn't another alternative for lunch - sometimes you just want a wrap or sandwich etc and you don't always want to eat at lunch what will also be on offer at dinner. The al a carte restaurants were really good and the service was much better. The dinner buffet restaurant was ok but thinking about it there wasn't much choice overall. The cheese and biscuits were nice though!! Our best meal was at the Jade restaurant near the hotel and very good value for mo
Hotel Riu Tikida Dunas - All Inclusive

We returned to the Tikida Dunas after a few years away, and i must say it seems the standards have slipped a little. Our room was fine, modern and spacious for two people. The room was cleaned daily and the beds comfy. Our safe was unfortunately broken on arrival and also the balcony doors (they could open from the outside when locked, we were in a ground floor room). Both issue were rectified during the stay. The pool & garden area is lovely and the main feature of the hotel. The staff on a whole aren’t very friendly given the exception of a few bar staff in the main reception. The food is what really lets the Dunas down. Everything was cold, we struggled to make a decent meal most days and on our arrival at the late night buffet we were faced with mould on the tomatoes!! This was reported to reception/ management but i received no acknowledgment. I must say i was very disappointed on a whole and would not be in a rush to return.
