I don't like hot water or strong-smelling hot springs, so I found this one to have a really good temperature, scent, and quality, so I was able to enjoy it as many times as I wanted. Everyone working here has a warm smile every time I pass by them, and everyone seems to be doing their best, which is nice. I've never seen the landlady look so beautiful. Perhaps because it is located in southern Shinshu, I get the impression that the best aspects of Japan have not been harmed and have been carefully protected. My husband and I were on our way to Shirahone Onsen but the roads were closed due to Typhoon Mawar, so we had to find a place to stay along the way. We arrived after 5 hours of frustrating and difficult driving, unannounced. The staff were a bit surprised to see us since this is not the kind of place that has unannounced guests arrive during a typhoon, but were very welcoming and accommodating. We stayed in room 106, which was extremely spacious (large living room, separate bedroom, many small art/decor displays, dressing room, toilet room, bathroom, and separate cypress bath area, two gardens). It was a palatial traditional tatami room, very well-maintained, clean, with lovely decor and plenty of amenities. The hotel itself is huge and very beautifully decorated, with a Noh stage. The night of the typhoon, amazingly, there was a traditional Japanese drum show. The breakfast was served in a separate tatami room in the restaurant, and was very extensive. The hotel staff were wonderful. All in all, it is a great place to stay if you are looking for a traditional Japanese experience (which we were!), and was an amazing place to spend the night of the typhoon.

A splendid gate and building, a Noh stage showcasing local performing arts, generally well-trained staff, and delicious food. We splurged on a room with an open-air bath for 50,000 yen/person/night. Normally this would be a five star rating, but the way the food was served was terrible. Dinner was in a private room at the restaurant, but they said it was good to have it first, so next they brought two dishes, including a bowl, and before they finished eating, they brought two more, then three! And best of all, they brought rice and dessert together! ! Wow, this is an amazing inn. I was able to eat a large amount of courses in less than an hour. There is nothing fancy about the food. I won't be visiting again. This is a disappointing accommodation.
