Azalaï Hôtel Abidjan

Hello. My hotel reservation was done by the company and sent to the hotel with PO on 2nd Nov 2022 for the period 4th Nov till 11th Nov. I came on the 4th for the check-in. The receptionnist told me that during the period 4th Nov till 11th Nov, there are days that there is no room for me. I was sad since they had at least two days to inform the company before I came. I asked to talk to the manager. The receptionnist spoke with him and they give me the room for this period. It is bad experience with the recpetion (For Azalai: Review your customer interface and interaction management). Second thing: during the breakfast, I asked if the hotel can serve ”Bissap Juice, a well known juice in Abidjan), the restaurant chief told me that they can bring it to me with non-friendly manner and that we can not accomodate all the cusotmer. I waited for the juice but without getting it. I can agree that we can accomodate all the customers, but the manner counts. The Restaurant staff should be well trained in Soft-Skills.

The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle from the airport, and they reportedly have staff waiting for you with a hotel sign after customs. My travel agent had informed the hotel of my arrival, but when I exited customs, no-one was there. After a 16-minute wait and some phone calls, the driver arrived. Traffic in Abidjan can be heavy, it took us about 45 minutes to reach the hotel Check-in was quick and friendly, and the receptionist spoke some English although to my surprise many other staff members did not; there was a constant language barrier. However, in the restaurant, they always had someone there who knew English well enough. My room on the 10th floor was rather small for a five-star. The bed was comfortable and there were sockets by the bed, and in addition, there was a coffee table, an armchair, a desk, a fridge, a safe and a 0.5 L water bottle in the room. A/C worked well. Overlapping curtains helped keep the light out in the morning. The room was recently renovated, in very good condition and felt fresh and clean. Wifi was free, unlimited, easy to use, fast and reliable. The bathroom came with an overhead as well as a hand-held shower, no bathtub. The shower worked nicely the first night, with ample hot water and great water pressure. However, for the next 55 hours, the hotel experienced immense trouble with their water system, and all I could get for two whole days was cold water and an awful water pressure. Taking a shower was almost impossible. First, they promised to fix it by 10 am, then noon, then 5 pm, then 10 pm and after that there were no promises anymore, and no compensation offered, either. I requested complimentary breakfast, which I got on two mornings. In the end, the problem was fixed after 55 hours. Amenities in the bathroom included slippers and a bathrobe as well as single-use shampoo, shower gel, body lotion and a bar of soap. No conditioner. I appreciate the single-use items as I don't find the wall-mounted containers – that so many hotels nowadays use in order to save money – hygienic. In addition, there was a shoeshining sponge, much needed in dusty Abidjan. Breakfast was served in the ground floor restaurant from 6:30 to 10. The buffet cost 16 000 CFA, which is a lot, but by African standards, the buffet was very good and items such as cheeses and ham were of high quality. There were several hot items as well as an egg station with omelettes served to the table. Cold items included all the basics as well as several types of salads and some Arabian items. I did not have dinner in the restaurant, but ordered room service a couple of times. The food came quickly and was of high quality. By Western standards, prices are fair even if they are very high for locals. There is a small swimming pool with surprisingly cool water on the mezzanine floor, open all day. The hotel is located in the Plateau business district, two blocks north of the most central area. I found the location good, and reaching other neighbo

The front desk staff do not listen to the concerns of guests but rather argumentative only towards protecting the interest of the hotel and never cared what your complaints are. On the day of my arrival I was made to stand waiting for 3 Hours even though I arrived 3 Hours after the normal checking in time, they spent the 3 Hours arguing about my online payment which was already done on Trip.com yet they said they could not find the payment history when in fact they did not have the patience to read the system well and locate the payment history but rather demanded me to pay again for bookings which were actually paid online until I had to show them how to read the system to solicit the information (I had communicated with trip.com with complains and shown the payment receipt to the hotel and they still could not comply until I showed them how to read the information on their own computer;before I could be allowed to check in). Also, at breakfast, I was made to pay again after I have booked a room with two breakfast included but hotel refused to understand and even after showing the booking information on the system which clearly indicated Breakfast X2 per day so I ended up paying again for the breakfasts to avoid embarrassment. The restaurant staff were very unprofessional and careless about hygiene (the bread spoon had fallen to the floor and one of them picked it and dropped it right back into the breadbasket without replacing or cleaning it before putting it back into the breads). ”DO NOT DISTURB” signage meant nothing to the cleaning team who continuously banged on the door because they wanted to iron or pick up your laundry even without you making a previous request for such services. I have never seen in any part of the world where hotel staff compete with hotel guests to take the lifts (elevator) leaving the guests waiting for the next ones (hahahaha). Staff were unfriendly and rude.

The reception is good but the rest leaves to desire since 14h no wifi water flowing from the hill nobody comes when he is warned it is a little abused it takes care of us at 21h more I had made a special request either saying honour the message was not sent so nothing was done services are no swimming pool iced jaccuzi like this really small suite is not elegant for a suite at the view of the hotel and its price you don't expect this especially for a month honey I was very disappointed the pipeline that makes abominable bouquet the restaurant I ordered a purée it was purée heating without taste the beef brows I asked bleeding it was good but it is harched cooked I don't recommend that Hotel experience very disappointing despite the pleasant staff I think if you want to do too much it doesn't get out and so the hotel service takes a sacred seminar wedding hotel should know if you are a hotel stay a concentrated hotel you on one and only thing that will allow the customer to feel comfortable and listen and especially want to come back I think for a hotel it is essential to act like this you lost 2 customers who wanted to spend a pleasant night We haven't even been massageing to want everything to do at the end you do nothing and you lose money.
