Super bad hotel. Check-in turned out to be in the basement, in a small alley near the hotel. There is no heating in the room, only electric heating, and the shower head is very old. Alleys, basements, very unsafe!

The main reason is that the sound insulation effect of the room is average, and the people next door can feel clearly when opening and closing the door and walking in the corridor. It happened that we needed to go to bed early on Friday night because we had to catch an early Saturday morning flight, and Aberdeen people like to go to bars late on that Friday night. I was disturbed by the people next door coming and going, so I didn’t sleep good. Everything else is perfect, and the hotel service staff is also very enthusiastic, answering every question. The hotel is located in the city center, 3 minutes walk from the train station, and there are many convenience stores around.

The room was older but clean and did have an updated bathroom. No AC. The windows didn’t open and there was no portable fan so it got extremely warm on that summer night. Car park was extremely tight and only for a few cars. We got the last spot!

We stayed 2 nights in the Douglas Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. As with all old hotels it is easy to find faults and, whilst some areas are in need of upgrading, our room on the fourth floor was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was modern and the walk in shower was wonderful. The staff throughout the hotel were super friendly and always had a smile on their face. The buffet breakfast provided a good range of both hot and cold dishes. It was nice to see the chef taking great care to ensure that the trays were kept topped up and the serving area was kept clean and tidy. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk to both the train and bus stations and a couple of minutes from Union Street. All in all a very enjoyable stay and we would have no hesitation in recommending the Douglas Hotel to potential guests.

Lovely hotel. Need a bit of updating in the rooms. Staff amazing. Restaurant attached to hotel is well worth a visit, food is amazing. Only downside is the bar shuts relatively early. Great location for train station. Would recommend this hotel even though it needs a bit TLC
