The Highland Hotel

Hotel is OYO Brentwood. Old building slightly dated decor 10 mins walk from station Lots of busy roads to cross and some poorly lit areas and cobbles . I had to drag my suitcase up a flight of 50 stone stairs that were poorly lit and full of litter You have to buzz the reception Access to room is by Coded pad. Very quiet room just a bit of background noise from the street and corridors.Room curtains too short and didn't block any lights from the street. Lighting in room was good.Free WiFi was okay. Room heater was electric and kept the room warm.I had to turn it down a bit Room was clean and quite large but dated Shelves and wardrobe TV but only channels 1 -5. Other channels buffering and freezing Linen was clean big plump pillows but mattress needed replacing I slept okay Bathroom has toilet shower and basin. Light over the basin didn't work Basin cracked Shower cubicle small I struggled to get the right temperature Either boiling or cold. I kept bumping the adjuster. Room was £29 and buffet breakfast was £9 but I didn't use it. Overall was okay for what it was. Definitely a one off.Ill spend more money next time if I sleep in Aberdeen There's a Leonardo next to the station and a travel lodge Hotel was quite relaxing but budget I felt safe

I ABSOLUTELY would NOT recommend this place. I was booked for 18 nights and at the last minute the hotel cancelled my booking with NO explanation. They are clearly engaged in price gouging as I had secured a good early season deal. This sort of practice is APPALLING and makes it impossible for anyone to plan their travel. BE WARNED - DO NOT BOOK AT THIS HOTEL!!
