Highland Aberdeen City Centre

This was the worst place I have ever stayed. I have worked in homeless hostels in central London that are nicer. The smell was horrendous, I have never smelt something that bad before, it made me want to vomit. I had to check out, I understand it’s a cheap place and I was expecting basic, not the smell of whatever that was. I’m pretty sure it was the corridor that I was placed in, rooms 125-128 as walking through the other corridors was pleasant smelling. When I told reception I was checking out and the reason they simply said ok!

Booked this as a cheapish, convenient option without knowing that this hotel is the same as the OYO Brentwood. Had I known and read the relevant TripAdvisor reviews, I probably wouldn’t have booked, but . . . The location is convenient for the bus and railway stations (although the shortest walking route involves a rather daunting flight of 70+ steps), and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. My single room, reached via a bit of a labyrinth of corridors and stairways, was spacious. The fittings were basic and tired, but functional. The room had a rather musty smell, but, in contrast to many previous reviews, was clean. The sound-proofing wasn’t great, but not a major issue. Housekeeping is apparently available on request, but there was no notification to that effect. A buffet breakfast is available with continental and Scottish options – nothing special, but convenient. The staff were all helpful and efficient. Overall, it met the ‘cheap and cheerful’ brief, but I probably wouldn’t go for a long stay.

Well if ignorance was a sport staff would all win a gold medal Obv cheap but expect certain level of cleanliness No food bar nothing 3rd party buffet available but wdnt be to all tastes

Excellent hotel

Awful place Awful place, not as advertised. Booked 3 rooms but only had 2 available (their mistake) so then relocated us to an even worse hotel and when I tried to get a refund I was told it was Hotel policy so nothing can happen.
