JJulie JWe arrived as the world was shutting down for Covid 19 pandemic! Only able to stay for 5 sleeps as ”return home” orders were issued ! This accommodation was perfect! We could listen to the lions roar across the river, the hippos mutter just up from our cabin and we could see the elephants come to the river for a bath! Shade trees, beautiful grounds, green and lush and well cared for. Birding the property was fun as we saw birds unique to us. The staff were accommodating, the food excellent and the cabins with the outdoor table, microwave and fridge was perfect. The sunset cruise with snacks and drinks highlighted the many birds and mammals of the Zambezi River. Alfred our guide described the river(rising), the trees, the baboons, etc. The local Symonga Village women had useful crafts to sell. The wifi was excellent! The owners were willing to help us stay and ride out the pandemic! So sad to leave!
Firstly a big mistake was not having US dollars pound sterling or Euros or Rand . You will need these and probably US dollars are the best. We had booked this hotel so we could visit the Vic Falls. Being newbies we did not understand that but the Waterfalls that time of year were in Zimbabwe so we got a shuttle courtesy of Cliff to Zimbabwe and went through border controls which is easy and not so far although extortionate in cost. Where does that money go?? In any case we were happy to stay in Zambia as I'm sure their hospitality would outshine Zimbabwe. The falls were spectacular. Caroline and in particular Kennedy were very helpful and knowledgeable. For the ignorance like us, the first language in Zambia is English. So we showed our ignorance by complimenting them on their good English LOL. The rooms were very comfortable and the food was of good quality. You will get good mango courtesy of the giant mango tree in situ.
We were here almost an entire week. Definitely your moneys worth. Gloria and her staff are extremely caring and will go out of their way to help in any way they can. Gloria helped us with recommending various activities, she sat even down with us to make calls to the right people and even helped negotiating the price. She has a lot of experience and a large contact network that helped greatly. One of the staff went to the market to get some clothes and shoes stitches up cheap. It’s a 15 minute walk from the bus and from the city-center, so a good location. Good breakfast, daily cleaned rooms, very nice pool, the list just goes on. Extremely friendly, humble, honest staff. I can recommend this place 100% :)
董董A few days before Christmas, I stayed here with my husband for two nights. The environment is first-rate, and the service is generally worse than Southeast Asia and slightly worse than the equivalent hotels in African countries. When I left the house in the morning, a cleaning sign was hung up. I returned to the house more than three in the afternoon and did n’t clean it. I did n’t clean it until I went back at night. Breakfast was okay, the British and American breakfasts were similar. It was ok, but there was no freshly squeezed juice, and the beverage felt like concentrated juice and water. Turned up turn-down service at night, and a small snack was good. The environment is particularly good. There are monkeys in the yard. They are not as fierce as those in China. They are not strong and do not actively attack people. The perimeter of the hotel is the safari park. After eating Chinese food with my husband for the first night, I went back to the hotel and saw a wild boar about 30 meters away from the hotel entrance. The big window facing the river in the room facing the river is very quiet. It is very comfortable to open the window in the morning and watch the river view lying on the bed. The quilt is a duvet, but the sheet cover is not soft and comfortable enough, which may be a common problem in African countries. Overall it is worth living.
TTravelfreeExcellent riverside room and a wonderful resort overall. The staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive. The gardens and surroundings in the resort are well maintained. The swimming pool is a great place to relax on a sunny afternoon, the restaurant and bar has excellent food refreshing drinks. It gets quite busy on the weekend and with big groups, but you can see why once you experience the facilities.
Apart from the resort it's also home to safpar, they have many different options for travel along the zambezi and falls. We chose the river float, game drive and sunset cruise combo (Around $180) and it was totally worth it!
Will definitely stop by again next time I'm in town.
KK4349WZmichaelmMyself and my wife stayed here for 3 days/2nights The manager was very accessible and staff are very welcoming and friendly. Place is very clean with good temperature water though pressure isn't very high. Location is somewhat off-road but overall quite close to town and the falls. Breakfast is provided and we enjoyed our breakfast every morning. We didn't make use of the pool, and i don't think at that point it was well maintained. We travelled there November/December 2020 at which time, tourism was heavily down due to COVID. Unfortunately, if you need wifi, this was a challenge for us at the time we were there. I would recommend statying here as it is a quite, peaceful and safe place. Bed is comfy and nice though facilities are generally average. There is AC that works. Ours was making a lot of noise though so we tried not to have it on all night but used to keep room very cool then go to bed. For the price you pay, this is a good place to stay though our budget, travelling from UK, may be different to locals.
KKANGThe service was good, the staff were friendly and the kitchen allowed me to boil ramen. The facilities inside were clean. Free breakfast was also good. It was nice to have a SPAR at a 7 minute walk. If you have a big baggage, there is a street to go to the bus terminal.
Sshine_yxlThe staff was very enthusiastic and helped me buy a calling card and told me where the station was. The room is big and the food provided is also very good. I only booked for one night and stayed one more night
