Centabay lodge back packer hostel accommodation in Paihia was alright. When I came with my family for a visit and for Accommodation the white guy owner/manager was rude and aggressive communicating to customers. He doesn’t like to greet and smile to customers I felt intimidated and sad. The room was average, the bathroom was average, the toilet is dirty etc. The bed wasn’t comfortable and the room get hot in the night but there is fan though. The owner/ manager is very stingy and unwelcoming and rude.

The layout of the room type is very suitable for family travel, one master bedroom, one second bedroom, two bathrooms, one of which also has a steam sauna. The balcony of the master bedroom and the balcony of the living room face the sea, the environment is beautiful, the location is excellent, there are several super high-rated cafes within a 5-minute walk, and the children's playground is also within easy reach. This is an absolutely fabulous place to stay. Quiet, gorgeous views, sunrise, beautiful rooms with mini kitchen area with kettle and toaster, fab bathroom, communal lounge with a piano. Heinz and Brita have the gift of hospitality and make you feel like one of the family without being intrusive. So we're coming back again! Highly recommended. They're also brilliant at recommending things to do in the area.

Nestled in an upper class neighborhood, unbelievable pearl of a place. Even with the many outstanding places to see and things to do, Tarlton’s stands out. EVERYthing was great from arrival and greeting by host couple to departure. Luxury but comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the private hot tub with the view over the northeast section of the Bay of Islands. Large bathroom with rain and hand held shower heads with heated towel rack. The hosts were eager to take care of us and I didn’t feel bad about using multiple towels. High quality amenities refreshed daily. Feel free to message for more details.

I arrived after hours which was not a problem at all as they left my keycard in the locked safe outside. The hostel was in a great location and I had a lovely time walking along waterfront and exploring the Lane ways. The hostel was clean and tidy - the best I’ve ever seen for cleanliness. The receptionist was so lovely and I would highly recommend this hostel. They also had designated parking which you could purchase!
