Here you can find more than 500 years of Bahamian history.The Nassau Public Library and Museum founded in 1837 and was used as a colonial jail house dating back to 1797.The Queen Staircase also known as the 66 steps was carved by slaves between 1793 and 1794.Fort Fincastle was built in 1793 to protect historical Nassau and its harbour from invading forces during that era.Bay Street, which is the Main Street of the City of Nassau, also the Islands oldest thoroughfare and here public transportation is easily available between 6am-7pm.
