Family Friendly Hotels in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan

First of all, thank you to the front desk staff who check us in when we encounter error on the self check in and gave us a free upgrade… ours was the compact room or something and was at a lower level, she upgraded us to a higher floor on level 7 with a view of the train station. Thank you for making our trip in Kyoto a memorable one. The room was big with a long sofa which we can sit and have our meals, enjoy the view and even put our large luggage. Will book again next trip to Kyoto. Sorry didn’t managed to ask for your name. Throughly enjoy my stay with this hotel and it’s pretty near to aeon mall and konbini stores. Thanks again!

I booked Junior Suite for 4 nights. Upon arriving the hotel, hotel staff was already waiting at the lobby. She led us to the Club at the 3rd floor to check in and arranged our luggage to deliver to our room. We had a few drinks and some Tapas at the Club before approaching to the room. The Club offers free flow of champagne, wine and drinks as well as snacks all day, it’s really a nice place to chill out before or after formal meal. Breakfast buffet at the 2/F was nice. A large variety of choices were available. I tried the massage service at the 2/F. It was nice too. Hotel staff got great hospitality. On check out date, they delivered our luggage to Kyoto Station for us to pick up there after our morning tour in Kyoto. Very thoughtful arrangement.

The Gate Hotel Kyoto is conveniently located to the shopping area. It was formerly a primary school and the scenery is perfect. My wife and I also enjoyed our cocktails on the top floor with a great view. Perfect stay!

Both Hotel and the rooms are exceptionally clean and are a nice mixture of Japanese and western aesthetic. Staff was exceptionally friendly and professional - usually someone around that speaks English. 5 minute walk to Gojo Station (Karasuma Line) or 20 minute walk straight to Kyoto station. Early luggage drop off as well later pickup was possible which makes Kyoto itineraries potentially longer than actual check-in/out times. Free drinking water (spiced up with mint and lemon) as well as affordable full breakfast (1350¥) if it needs to be quick and you have no time to find something else first and order. Several konbini and quick diners around.

A bit expensive, but everything else is good. Our family has three people living in a room, which is a bit crowded, and the room fee is more than 15,000. There is one large hot spring bathroom and five small ones, and the hardware is relatively simple. When the crabs are in season, they are indeed sweet and plump, which is rare. Just treat it as a crab set meal for 4,000 RMB per person, and leave the rest More than 3,000 yuan is used as room fee and hot spring fee. The check-in and check-out times are very unreasonable. You can only check in after 15:00 and check out at 10:00 in the morning. The whole check-in experience is very rushed and it is difficult to relax. There are no other stores or places to visit around, which is a bit desolate. The transportation is very inconvenient, so you can almost only go there by chartering a car. Everyone knows that the price of chartering a car in Japan is very expensive! It cost almost 20,000 yuan. A family of three spent 29 hours traveling from Kyoto and back.

My stay at Mercure Kyoto Miyazu Resort & Spa was incredible! The classic Japanese-style room was beautifully designed with tatami mats and a serene ambiance, offering a perfect blend of tradition and comfort. The ocean view from my room was breathtaking, and the onsen facilities were truly relaxing. The staff were warm and attentive, ensuring every detail was perfect. The traditional Kyoto-style breakfast was a delightful highlight. I highly recommend this resort for a peaceful and luxurious getaway!

I visited for a family trip. I made a reservation for a shuttle bus by phone, but it is quite far from the city center. It is quiet and the air is good, so I am satisfied. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. I think the large bath and open-air bath are not bad. It smells a little like Lux. I was a little disappointed that there was no ice cream that was supposed to be given for free after bathing. I made a reservation for a room with an open-air bath, and the atmosphere was very good and I was very satisfied. The bedding was clean and soft, so it was better than a bed. The staff was also friendly, which was nice. The location may be a pity, but if you think about the atmosphere of Shoenso, it is not crowded, so I would like to visit again.

The experience at this hotel is amazing. Excellent customer service. The room is spacious and clean. Location is strategic, just 1 station away from Kyoto station. This is really good for us as we travel direct from Kansai Airport. Overall, very good experience and certainly will pick this hotel for my next visit.

I stayed here for two days in Kyobuki Tour. The house is nice and the surrounding environment is quite quiet. It is 2 kilometers away from the center of Uji. Just be aware that the check-in time is 4 pm. If you go there too early, there will be no one around. Just call the staff. I don't want to care about you and want you to wait. I arrived at three o'clock and was exposed to the cold wind for a long time in the humid air. I even put on a snow mountain jacket and couldn't bear it. But this is indeed my own problem. I didn't pay attention to the check-in time, but it was also a bit uncomfortable because the staff was not humane enough.

Another delightful stay at this hotel. Everyone at the reception desk was so helpful in making my stay a comfortable one. I would like to say a special thank you to Ami, the massage lady who did a great job in relaxing my tired body after doing the touristy things all day. I look forward to my next stay.
